This year, more than others, there seems to be no dominant team in the NFL. AZ is probably the best overall squad, but we played them to the wire. As a fan this is the first season I can recall since 2009 where I feel like we can have a shot to win any game we are in. There is a toughness and discipline to this team that I've never seen since I began watching regularly in the early 1990s. That doesn't mean we'll win it all, against a team like AZ or SEA or CAR we'll need to not just play at a high level, but also make a few extra plays to win, so we are an outside contender. What makes it fun though is the simple fact that as a fan I feel like it is actually possible and not just the purple kool-aid. That for me has been the best part of this season. Definitely my favorite Vikings team since 2009.
2009 was special year for me as I watched every game with my newborn son and the pass by Favre to Greg Lewis against SF remains to this day the greatest play I've ever seen. That play is also why I can never hate on Favre the way Jim does.
lol.....the backbone of this current team does seem to have a clearing quality to the kool-aid. I know the feel.

I was just thinking about Brent and that 49er game today....funny you brought it up. I couldn't recall Lewis' name.
I actually got pissed at the previous drives failure and considered the game over at that point. I turned the TV off and missed the play! I didn't miss another the rest of the year. It was cool to see the year Farve had. I always loved the way he played and his understandng of the game. I can certainly get why some people don't care for him.
I only wish he never came back for 2010, just so history could have recorded the fact that Brent Farve was undefeated against the Packers.

The next time Teddy Bridgewater steps on the field for a game the calendar will have turned to January, but the Vikings hope the second-year quarterback keeps firing footballs like he has in December.
For whatever the reason, Bridgewater has been one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in the month of December. His passer rating of 107.9 in December over the last two years is third best in the NFL, the Vikings say.
And he’s been especially hot over the last three games, completing 70.4 percent of his passes for 734 yards, 6 touchdowns and no interceptions.

He also looked off the safety which gave the pass time to make it to Rudolph before the safety was able to get there. It was a gorgeous throw.

I agree, one of the best he's made as a Viking. I hope we see a lot more of them!

I won't go that far. But as a fan this is the first season is the last decade I have some actual hope going forward. 2009 was a everything or bust. 2012 it was clear wasn't anything to build on. We finally have coaching good enough to help overcome some talent gaps. And a team with a pretty clear picture of what needs to be done going forward. I don't think Teddy will ever be an elite QB and won't be able to boost the team around him like some elite QBs can do in this league, but I think he's good enough to succeed if they surround him with some better talent, unlike the two hand picked "franchise" QBs before him.
Win or lose the rest of the way, it's still clearly a successful season and there's a lot of reason to FINALLY feel better about the direction this team is in. (I won't say the QB quite yet, remember his last December and then some of his play earlier this season!)

The exact same thing happened in a previous game though, just the safety didn't bite and I think it ended up in a pick. Glad it worked this time though.

I was trying to find that play but unsuccessful. Anyone remember what game that was? Thin line between a seemingly bad play and a great play.
