teddy bridgewater is quite possibly the worst starting quarterback in the nfl. statistically, he is in the top 5. any quarterback who cannot develop some type of play action passing game with the best running back of this generation in the backfield has major problems. and truthfully, those problems are becoming more evident each week. whether we win or lose tomorrow, if you ask me, doesn't even matter if this passing game doesn't get rectified on so many levels.
Just for the sake of argument, in madden I ended up with Tebow as a QB, now personally wasn't what I would of picked but then I though, how like Denver a few years ago, except Tebow isn't fragile and runs more like a Clam Fig than a Trapland. So if we had our own Clam Fig runner QB (since we don't ask much of our QB apparently anyhow) how awesome would that work out? My Madden team is undefeated with Tebow as QB. Now, on a personal note I would stop watching because of the Tebow circus (same if we got johnny scumball) I would just stop watching. However sometimes it's fun to think.

By the by I'm 3 days now with little to no sleep and worked half... 3/4 to death so... if you're confused you're probably gander nubbing some geese pimples and need to lay of the bee cheese my friend.

I have come to the following conclusion about TBW.... Teddy Bridge Water... needs an 'e' and 'o' (TeBoW... get it) j/k ... umm oh yeah that he is too indecisive although athletic and sometimes brilliant if you hold onto the feetbul like a worry stone bad juju will befall you. If he improves he reads (quickens his decisions mostly) trusts his receivers (leads them in routes instead of waiting for the fluffing route to be ran already) we would have a much different QB.... Actually we would have a cross between (or a little of) Wilson and Brady... I dub the future Teddy a 'lil Wady.
My guide to being a Vikings fan:
Step 1.) Drink beer.
Step 2.) See step 1.

It does no good that he's wide open there because he isn't ready to receive the ball when Teddy's first ready to throw it so now he has to double clutch and it throws the timing off. Man this passing game is a mess.
Sigh... I knew someone would say that.

It's a timing-based offense and Wallace is running a deep out pattern. If the QB waits until the receiver makes his break and looks his way, the throw is already late.

This approach has been common in the NFL for decades. It's why you constantly hear about QB anticipation and QBs "throwing to a spot".

Exactly. I just find too many people trying to blame Wallace for Teddy's struggles. I know that Wallace has had some drops but it doesnt excuse Teddy from the missed throws and not ANTICIPATING throws like Jim said. I still say that if Teddy simply hit Wallace on HALF of the deep balls he's missed him on (6), many of us would have a completely different look on Wallace

And you think Wallace has earned Teddy's "confidence" to throw to a spot, in coverage? I certainly havent. Diggs, CJ, Wright, yeah. Wallace would still be trying to get around the DB without bumping into him, if it was a timing/to the spot, throw. The confidence thing goes both ways, Teddy has lost it with Wallace. So Norv, switch things up, esp the route running, and lets see what happens. Maybe in the meantime we can be happy with our D and AP running the game. Give Teddy a real #1 WR (although Diggs could be called that) a decent Oline, and a decent OC. Not all good QB develop in 2 seasons. Zimmer and Rick have been working on the D side of the ball to get talent, maybe this draft, they work on the offense.

Frankly, I don't care. Bridgewater's job is to execute the play. Wallace was the open target, the receiver the coaches put on the field to run the route. TB needed to make the throw on time.

So he can close his eyes and throw it to a spot? That makes as little sense as saying Norv has his receivers running good routes, imo. Would you same the same thing would have applied to TWill? I just havent seen Wallace do anything CP84 couldnt do. I dont see the double moves. I have seen some of Wallace's blazing speed, where Teddy overthrew him. But I do agree, a good QB, with even a little chemistry with a good WR, makes those throws fairly often. I am grumpy this morning, I am still upset over the Pack/lions game, and I had a wedding yesterday. Getting old sucks.

A little off topic here, but, the Lions just cleaned house with some of their coaches, mid season. I wouldn't mind the Vikings doing the same. I know Zim and Norv are joined at the hip (I dont know why though), But Davidson doesnt seem like anything special, not does Turners son (im guessing anyone that learns the system can call the plays to into Teddys) and the WR coach, imo, flat out sucks. Receivers like Diggs are rare. I dont think the coaching staff had much to do with his natural ability to be a great WR. But if the dont feel like changing coaches, because, as a team, they are doing very well, i am hoping for some change next year. Well I am hoping for 1 fairly big change and then a few other ones.

He doesn't have to close his eyes! I want him to make throws on time, not to use the Force. ;)

Sure, I'd say the same thing about anybody.

I can relate to that.

There's no way it will happen this season, on a winning team. I think the only way Norv is leaving his if he chooses to leave. In fact, Zimmer seems like a loyal guy so I doubt we'll see any changes to the coaching staff during the offseason unless they involve coaches leaving and needing to be replaced.

The pass in question was late, but could still easily have been a catch if Wallace had simply DONE HIS JOB! He quit on the play. I'd quit on him. meet the bench.

I thought this was pretty interesting

"There is a saying among those who build guitars: “Everything affects everything.’’ Translation: Changing one component could alter the way an instrument sounds, or functions, even if the new component is superior."

For whatever reason, changing his role and bringing wallace in has messed him up big time. Maybe it's messed norv up too, he was bad again as well :(

It's interesting but correlation doesn't prove causation and I'm not inclined to attribute Bridgewater's play to those changes. I think we saw this Bridgewater last season too. He had some games that encouraged optimism but the ineffective performances, the tendency to lean on checkdowns and cautious play and the accuracy issues were evident too. It's possible that replacing jennings with Wallace and adding Peterson to the mix messed him up but I think it's more likely that teams studied his film, saw his shortcomings and tendencies and realized they could capitalize on them, especially with the Vikings makeshift OL protecting him.

It makes me sad to say I agree with a lot of this article. This could be about the lowest I have felt since the final game in 2009. I never expected anything from Ponder. I did from Teddy, and now I have doubt.

I could see it in teddy's eyes just before halftime. I always thought was a leader, and liked being one. That he was confident without being an idiot, or cocky. At halftime today it just wasnt there.

Then in the second half, I swear he either didnt know what the plays were, or nobody on the field was doing what he thought the play was. Looking at him then, it wasnt only his eyes, but the way he moved, the way he walked to the huddle, or ran to the sidelines, that it hit me, he may not be all I hoped he was going to be. Even with more time. I also think he should sue Clemmings and Zimmer for putting him behind center in that mess. Is it really that hard to give Clemmings help??? No wonder Teddy seemed to be moving slower and slower. I have no idea how he even gets out of bed on Monday mornings.

But something has to happen. Norv has to get his head out of his a$$, change the routes/plays, and Teddy has got to hit those 3-4 yard slants, quick hits on the sidelines, something, or we wont win another game this year. Without having the advantage of a running game from here on out, we are toast. And like the article said, Teddy has to throw some caution to the wind.

its not norv people, put phillip rivers into the is offense and then you get the real norv because he would have a qb who can EXECUTE HIS PLAY CALLS. bridgewater is done and he should be. he looks embarrassing out there. today was a complete joke.

"There is a saying among those who build guitars: “Everything affects everything.’’ Translation: Changing one component could alter the way an instrument sounds, or functions, even if the new component is superior. Peterson’s return has made the Vikings a better team but has not had the desired effect on Bridgewater. Instead of capitalizing on defenses obsessed with Peterson, he has become obsessed with avoiding mistakes."

I absolutely love that quote. It's spot on

Actually, someone posted, fans were calling for River's head when he was QB there with Norv. Its wasnt until Norv left Rivers improved.
