Packers @ Vikings Game Day Discussion Thread -- Week 11

Post by yezzir »

Good morning and Skol!!!

:govikes: :v): :smilevike:

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
First place in the NFC North is on the line this Sunday when the Green Bay Packers visit the Minnesota Vikings in a betting pick'em.

The Minnesota Vikings have taken control of the NFC North with a 7-1 record straight up and an 8-0 record against the spread run over their last eight games. The Vikings will try to widen the gap this Sunday at home against the Green Bay Packers.

Green Bay at Minnesota is going off as a pick'em at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Packers had been favored in each of their last 12 games against the Vikings.

In a league loaded with fast-paced passing attacks, the Minnesota Vikings continue to win with old fashioned smash mouth football. Coming off a 30-14 win over Oakland, the Vikings have the second-best scoring defense in the league allowing only 17.1 points per game and the best rushing attack in the league with 147.2 rushing yards per game.

Adrian Peterson's 934 rushing yards lead the NFL by 227 yards more than second-place Chris Johnson. Peterson rushed for 203 yards against the Raiders.

Now Minnesota must prove its system can work against the Green Bay Packers. The Vikings are just 1-9-1 SU and 4-7 ATS in their last 11 games against the Packers per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Last Sunday, the Packers lost to the Detroit Lions at home for the first time since 1991. The Packers offense managed only 16 points in the 18-16 loss as a 10.5-point favorite.

Since starting the season off 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS, the Packers have fallen into an 0-3 SU and ATS slump as Aaron Rodgers has had some uncharacteristic struggles. Green Bay is 4-1 SU and ATS in its last five November road games against Minnesota.

Sunday's total is set at 45 points. The UNDER is 7-3 in Minnesota's last 10 games and 5-1 in Green Bay's last six games.

The Packers have too much talent not to work their way out of this slump, but this doesn't look like a good week to do it. Minnesota's smothering defense and clock-eating offense appear to be a quarterback's nightmare, and should help propel the Vikings to a home win over Green Bay this Sunday.

Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings

When: Sunday, November 22, 4:25 p.m. ET

Where: TCF Bank Stadium, Minneapolis, Minnesota

Betting Line / Total: Pick'em / 45 Points

Prediction:

It'll be an interesting battle between Zimmer and Rodgers today. Who comes out better adjusted after halftime?

Big game for Diggs today. It's gonna be a fun one. This game could be an all timer.

Good morning!

I'm stoked for this game. I'm wearing my Vikes jersey already and I'll start cooking some chili in the ol' crock pot in a little while, to be eaten during the game.

As we've discussed this week, there's a LOT on the line in this game. It should have something akin to a playoff atmosphere.

I hope the Vikes win and get a firm hold on the division lead. :govikes:

Jim, I was hoping you might be old enough to know the reference on my avatar... (Yes, I am begging someone to laugh at my joke) ...any idea?

Oh, sure, it's a take on old Isaac Hayes album cover! Sorry I never said anything. I got the joke right away. I remember seeing that album in stores, although I've never owned it.

Ha! Maybe I should put together an avatar based on a James Brown or Curtis Mayfield cover to carry the theme forward. :)

And Jim will also start drinking beer while he's cooking, which means by game time he'll be so blazooed that he'll accidentally watch the 49ers/Seahawks game and not know the difference. :D

That is one bummer about late games. I always love cracking a couple during the noon game, but now I'll have to wait.

At least the O-line play will look consistent.
My guide to being a Vikings fan:
Step 1.) Drink beer.
Step 2.) See step 1.
