mosscarter, good post. It also made me remember this:

But yes, Randy Moss is the classless POS that ruined sports.
I dont know who said he ruined sports, not me.

Fan affiliation has very little to do with this matter, regardless of how many people want it to.

The mooning in and of itself isnt the issue, the intent to rub defeat in the face of opposing fans is the issue, but that has been covered many a time in this thread.

The irony of this statement is hard to pass up. Although I know Moss was a player, but let me ask you this.

How many times have you rubbed the Packers 13 Championships in the face of a Vikings fan?

So, it's ok for fans to do it, but a player, not so much. Right?
Vikings fan since Nov. 6, 1966. Annoying Packer fans since Nov. 7, 1966

Did my last video not post? Don't slap the most talented receiver in league history while he's injured. THAT was classless.

What is ironic about this? Is it right for fans to brag and talk #### when their team has the upperhand? No. Its not, its being a straight up ####, but fans are fans and while it still isnt right, its to be expected that fans are going to be moronic.

Players? Not so much, professionals are supposed to be held to a higher standard, and that is why most players dont run around making obscene gestures at fans and rubbing their success in those same fans faces, that just doesnt happen often on national tv.

And also completely unaffiliated with the Green Bay Packers franchise. Not that that was cool. I really dont understand what you are getting at, their have been plenty of unsportsmanlikge actions throughout sports, that still doesnt make making obscene gestures at opposing fans on national tv any less unsportsmanlike or rare. I never once stated the Packers were any more morally upstanding then the Vikings, i think some of you are being rather defensive.

Either way a friggen college marching band is a little bit different then an on field professional.

The Packers let them on the field with those tuba covers (I have no clue what to call those things) on. When the Packers allowed a group to perform on their field, they becomes affiliated with the Green Bay Packers.

This is besides the point, aside from the fact that a marching band is quite a fair amount different then an an on feild professional, I never claimed any moral superiority, i simply stated the fact that professional athletes rubbing in victory in the faces of opposing fans, is wildly unsportsmanlike, and quite unprecedented in the world of nationally televised sports. And it is.

This isnt about Packers vs Vikings, regardless of how much you insist it be so.

one overreaction deserves another . :D
Was it one of the most unsportsmanlike things ever broadcasted live on tv? Yup, no ones fan allegiance has any bearing on that.

But its ok, get all huffed up and defensive if you like, there are plenty of great Vikings fans that can rationally discuss things like grown adults, without making crap up as you just did.
Rationally discuss? Jordy, i truly appreciate what you've been bringing to this forum, but this Moss issue, you have to let it go. Look at your posts in this thread, i wouldn't call it rational at all. Your colors are showing. Just state your opinion and let it go. You're not going to convince anyone here. This is a Vikings forum for Pete's sake. Its like trying to convince Yankee fans that Babe Ruth calling his homerun was distasteful. Really, the majority of the people that have a big problem with the mooning are Packer fans.

Im sorry about the comment. I was just trying to make a point.

It's not the most disgusting.

Can you name many other "things" that have happened that are more disgusting? Steve Smith rowing a boat? Joe Horn pulling out a cell phone? On a scale of "disgusting" there really isn't much on it, but if you were to rank them, pretending to moon the crowd is up there. It was a stupid, immature celebration, by a stupid and immature player.

And now we're dealing with another stupid, immature, superstar. :wallbang:

No overreaction came from my end. I have stated several times that there are plenty worse things out there then unsportsmanlike conduct, does that make it any less unsportsmanlike and unprecedented what Randy did? No. Not a huge deal, but still completely unsportsmanlike and unbecoming of a historic franchise like the Vikings.

Of course Packers fans are the only ones who would truly be offended by Randys gesture, isnt that a given? it happened to them. I think that Randy walking off the feild on his own team was terribly immature and wrong of him to do, do I give a flying ####? No, not in the slightest, probably because it didnt happen to my team. But there is still no way I could ever deny it was a major asswipe move, regardless of any irrelevant fan affiliation, and I am willing to bet that the majority of other NFL fans, while not particularly offended, still saw Randys gesture as an extremely unsportsmanlike act, thats why he was fined, and that is why actions like his are far from commonplace in professional sports, which leads me to my next point..

I think YOUR true colors are showing, by trying to actually justify such a blatant act of unsportsmanlike conduct, you are proving beyond any reasonable doubt that you have allowed you personal bias and fan affiliation to cloud your judgement. Basically, I think you are making inane rationalizations to justify the quite obviously terribly unsportsmanlike actions of one of you favirote athletes, against what I am assuming to be one your lesser liked teams. But as you said, we are unlikely to change eachothers mind.

Not rubbing you opponents face in your own success, is basic elementary level stuff. I dont have any want or need for anyone to cry the blues for the Packers, but I assure you that the majority of people in the civilized world would agree that rubbing personal success in the faces of the opponent or opponents fans is a blatant example of being a terrible sportsman, in fact to most people, that is a matter of basic commonsense.

Btw, I dont think you have any right to accuse me of being all but rational, just a few posts after you litterally just lied and claimed i said something that you just made up out of nowhere.

It definitely ranks up there in unsportsmanlike incidents on national tv I agree, no doubt about it. I will again clarify that I never once in my life called it the most disgusting I have ever seen on television, however.

If you are looking for affirmations for your easily offended sensitivities.....try posting it on a Packer Fan site, I am sure a few of them can read. Here, you are just a tempest in a teapot trying to make waves........Truth is Moss has been a pretty good guy in his life off the field. Thats the only point of this original story....Good Bye......
