Yea, you guys look like you have a pretty solid roster going into this year.
Im curious though, as to what most Vikes fans think their biggest need is going into the draft?
My bad if this isnt a great thread to ask this in.

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
That is a big piece as far as perception goes. It calms the whole process down. As long as TB keeps improving....nothing quite like having a glaring hole at QB.808vikingsfan wrote: I think the best part of this year's draft is that the QB position is set. When was the last time the majority was comfortable with the starting QB?

I think a guard that can replace the production we were getting out of Charlie Johnson won't be too difficult to find. And I agree that we need upgrades, but there isn't a team in the league that is set at every position. My point is that we don't have Charlie Johnson at LT or Chris Cook as our best corner or our entire Defensive line hitting free agency or Christian Ponder at QB. Those types of "oh ####" roster spots.Mothman wrote: I think it could get pretty ugly if they head into this season without adding more talent at guard.
Personally, I think they're heading into the draft with a clear need to upgrade at several positions
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
I understand. I'm saying left guard is one of those "'"oh ####"" roster spots and they need to do better than replacing the production they were getting out of Johnson, which was inadequate.DK Sweets wrote:I think a guard that can replace the production we were getting out of Charlie Johnson won't be too difficult to find. I don't think this year's draft is that weak at MLB. I really like that erik kendricks dude from ucla. Him and barr would be magical, also I would be fine with Paul Dawson. Both should be there in the 2nd.

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
The situation at LT is not as sweet as it once seemed. Granted, Kalil is a bit of an enigma in terms of what they can expect from him next season, and a solid guard next door would be huge. But if he winds up flailing for any reason then that whole left side is just a hole.
The AD situation really clouds the draft for me...but should he go or stay they won't go wrong snatching up Sherf or the kid from LSU(Collins?)
I reckon Sherf's versatility is a major plus, being that he could replace Kalil if it came down to it...but the mean streak in Collins is something you can't coach and would be a welcome addition to the line IMO.
Either one helps the ground game and takes some pressure off of the ball carrier needing to be a superstar.

trade AP if we can get a good LT or another wide receiver.

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
Just more blatant speculation by a guy with no real sources....even the link to his sources is just another yahoo, @ Yahoo, speculating without sources and glossing over that it has already been reported that Romo's restructure was to enable the Cowboys to absorb the roster bonuses of Hardy and McCain who both were just signed.
The 'article' (blog post?) also fails to mention that Romo's cap # was tops in the league before the restructure and that he did the same basic restructure last season.
If the Cowboys manage to swing a deal for AD, he won't be making $12m. next season.
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
I am guessing if he is not dealt by the draft, it won't happen. I wouldn't even be surprised to see him hold out
for a while too...I just hope it does not become a problem during the season. I miss the old days when I cheered
for him running down the field for 80 yards at a time. Knocking Packers and Bears down at will.

Just going by past indications of AD being a different kind of cat, I worry that he will hold out indefintely. The Vikes and fans are betting that his competitve nature will rule his actions and he'll suit up...but what if he's competing in some grudge realm with the Wilfs?jackal wrote:I am guessing if he is not dealt by the draft, it won't happen. I want to root for him in purple too, but if it comes down to whether or not he plays at all then I don't care where he plays as long as he finishes his career near his capabilities.
If he goes 'Barry Sanders' about it I'll be very disappoint with everyone involved. I don't really think that will happen...but I do see him being stubborn enough to sit out for a long time.

AP's issue is that he already unintentionally "held out" for year. At this point his choices are either play or essentially be considered retire. Even if he did weasel out after holding out this year. NO team is going to pay a 31 year old RB who hasn't played a game in 2 years. That is why I expect him to play.
