I don't think Dallas is getting AP, but it's not because they signed McFadden. I fully expect them to bring in another RB.@ESPNNFL 2m2 minutes ago
McFadden has played a 16-game season just once in his 7-year career & is averaging just 606 rushing yards per season

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
McFadden himself shouldn't put to rest any speculation of AP not going to Dallas. McFadden can't stay on the field and so far when he has, he's been somewhat a letdown.
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
Just saw a stat where McFadden led the league in being hit in the backfield. How much of that falls on o-line?

Darren McFadden - RB - Cowboys
The Cowboys reportedly targeted Darren McFadden as a "home-run hitting backup."
Yahoo's Charles Robinson says Dallas envisions McFadden playing "second fiddle" to a starting back. The Cowboys will likely find that starter in the draft. McFadden may have been a "home-run hitter" coming out of Arkansas in 2008, but he certainly no longer is going on age 28. McFadden has averaged below 3.5 YPC in three straight years. His receiving skills have also diminished.

@CharlesRobinson #Vikings do not have another meeting set with Adrian Peterson. His dad is mistaken. Meeting with Wilfs this week was last one on the books.

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
Dallas running back coach "Gary Brown" was with the Browns for about 5 years and he always had good running backs. Peyton Hillis, Trent Richardson. He went to Dallas 2 years ago and turned Murray into a premier back.
So I look for them to have a decent back.

I don't see any desire to trade him either. Aside from some team making a 'can't pass' offer, it appears to me they are working out a number that may be based on the market value being set for RB.Mothman wrote: -------------

I think it would be wise to restructure AD and give him more guaranteed money with a lower overall pricetag. I believe he has legit 3 years of better than average production in him.

on the flipside his trade value is likely at it's peak....
The way AZ is clearing cap space, how they lack a running game and how close they are to winning big makes me think they might make a good offer.
I don't think there is any way the Vikings come out of this thing other than pleased with the result.

This article seems to agree that Adrian is running out of options, other than us. http://mobile.sportingnews.com/article/ ... i%2FSNMain
It's time to take back what was rightfully ours in '98....and '09!!

It was an easy shortcut. But the door appears to be swinging shut. It might have been just an easy shortcut to assume Peterson was on his way to the Cowboys, considering it was his home-state, he’d had the infamous phone conversation with Jerry Jones and they were about to lose their centerpiece running back to free agency.

I am sorry but its not a "shortcut" a team with a great running back that loses him is linked to a great running back unhappy in his current situation. That's the opposite of jumping to a conclusion. That's a reasonable determination.

Yes, but it was pure speculation, and not consistent with what the Cowboys are trying to do with their roster.IrishViking wrote:

It's only a shortcut because the dunderhead himself has said the last two years he'd like to play for them....In an ESPN "Outside the Lines" story, writer Don Van Natta Jr. reported that Peterson told Dallas owner Jerry Jones in a June phone call he'd like to play for the Cowboys once his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings ends.
"Well, I understand, Adrian," Jones told Peterson during the call, per Van Natta. "I'd like that, too ... Well, I love your story. I love your daddy's story. I've always respected what you've been about. I've always been a fan of yours."
This isn't the first time Peterson has fanaticized about playing for the Cowboys. The Texas native said last December he'd be a "liar if I said it's something that hasn't crossed my mind before."
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
What does Mike Wallace do to our cap situation? Is it any less likely we keep AP now?
Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
not to mention what they can do with their roster. Jerry Jones specifically said that in an ideal world Murray would still be a Cowboy, but they simply could not afford him due to the salary cap. Adrian Peterson makes significantly more than Murray, so we'd have to be talking about a huge pay cut for Peterson to go to Dallas.denburch wrote: Yes, but it was pure speculation, and not consistent with what the Cowboys are trying to do with their roster.

We should still have somewhere between 10-12 million dollars in spending money at this point, with projected rookie salaries factored in

Re: Adrian Peterson (not) Reinstated
It's really too early for this. There can still be restructuring and if the Vikings keep AP, then it's probably on his end. More guaranteed money and backload the rest of his contract to make the contracts of Wallace, Johnson (potentially) and others, to fitSuperman wrote:What does Mike Wallace do to our cap situation?
