I doubt Waynes is going to last until the Vikes pick in R2.

Very nice - thanks for the thoughts on these guys! I also use DB frequently, lots of quality video - it's really hard to find All 22 film for college games unfortunately.nightowl wrote:For those who are interested and have time to kill http://draftbreakdown.com/players/ is a cool place to find videos of the draft prospects. It appears the videos are all from random posters who've posted them to Youtube or other hosts, but this is a nice central location to check them out. The top prospects usually have about 4-9 vids available, and they seem to have at least 1-2 of a bunch of guys you haven't heard of. Some of the vids are nicely trimmed to show all of the snaps played not just highlight reel stuff.
Here are a few (amateurish) thoughts I had watching some of the videos.
DeVante Parker - I watched several of his because he's been mentioned as Viking target so much. Tell me that when he moves you don't see shades of Randy Moss. He doesn't have the Moss Speed or Vertical leap, and I'm not saying he'll be anywhere near that kind of player. I'm just talking about the long lanky body, the way he moves and contorts to catch passes when he's going up to get it. Even the gait when he runs and walks, it's a bit spooky. Two thing concerned me. I don't think he gives a diddly about blocking, and the other was during the Kentucky game there were a few INTs where he was the closest man to the defender and he gave zero effort to do anything about it. I can only imagine Zimmer's reaction if Teddy overthrew him on a deep ball and Parker watched and did almost nothing after the corner picked it off and turned up field. **Check the 1:15 mark of the 2014 Kentucky clip**
Tevin Coleman - If AD doesn't come back I want this guy so bad. He's got good Speed and Power. He has enough movement to make defenders miss, he seems to catch well and he blocks too so he can stay on the field. I'm stunned to not hear that much talk about him.
Kevin White - I wonder about his real football speed, because he didn't seem to be moving that fast in the clips I watched. If I remember, I think Parker and Cooper both had better 10 yard splits than him even though he had a faster 40 time at the combine. He's a monster going up to get the ball though.
Jay Ajayi - Would be a major weapon in the pass game because he catches it well, and when he gets in open space it's very entertaining. I was a bit surprised at how often I saw him get stuck for a loss or at the line. Seems like a feast or famine type back.
Dorial Green-Beckham - I had never seen him play and was of the mindset just hearing about his issues, that the Vikings should avoid him like the plague. If you are the same way... DO NOT WATCH HIS CLIPS! Watching him go up for a fade or jump ball into the endzone was like watching Shaq going up against a member of the lollipop guild for a tip-off. It just wasn't fair. I would be on board with the Vikes taking him in the 2nd round or even late 1st. On God Given ability he probably should be the number 2 overall pick in the draft. The Kentucky 2013 video is ridiculous!

@JoshNorris Both are interesting options, especially MIN RT @Rotoworld_Draft: Trae Waynes schedules visits with MIN & JAX http://dlvr.it/8v1jkD
1) One year is not ages. He still has time to rebound.PurpleKoolaid wrote:Cp, hmmmm. I vaguely remember him ages ago being talked about as a WR. Now hes not even being talked about as being a KR....yeah, now there a #1 WR. Jennings is a 3rd on any other passing team (and getting #1 pay). With a passing QB and more of a passing offense, why not give him a #1WR target?
You echoed how I feel about DGB. I would almost prefer they jump back to the late 1st and grab DGB. We will have to see if AP stays or leaves, and what his value is.Texas Vike wrote:
Awesome site and I enjoyed your observations.
I did it. Like you, I wanted nothing to do with DGB and then you described his abilities and said watch (but don't watch!) the game vs. Kentucky. Oh no! I caught the fever! Where's that list of red flags again? That's the only way to get rid of this fever I'm afraid!
The Vikings met with Oklahoma OTs Tyrus Thompson and Daryl Williams on Tuesday.
Either would be nice as a developmental investment in Round 2, perhaps kicking inside to guard for a season as the Purple milks another year out of RT Phil Loadholt and decides if LT Matt Kalil can hack it long-term as an above-average starter. Loadholt, who ended 2014 on injured reserve with a torn pectoral, is also a former Sooner.

I agree, and he always gives full effort. He always helps the qb up if he allows a sack, and is consistently downfield blocking.DK Sweets wrote:I'm not sure if "milking another year" out of Loadholt is fair. I think he's played really well when healthy lately.
These reports are hlarious to me. I've never heard of or seen Alvin Dupree...but after reading that I want him on the Vikes. It's like looking at specs for new cars while having $100mil of someone else's money to spend.dead_poet wrote:Alvin Dupree - DL - Wildcats
NFLDraftScout.com's Frank Cooney believes there is "no reason to believe" Kentucky LB Bud Dupree "won't be a star in the NFL."
"Any team looking for an athletic, versatile, productive, consistent defender, Dupree is all that and more," Cooney wrote. "Dupree has quick feet and hands and is best eluding, rather than confronting, blockers. Dupree added 15 pounds of muscle in college and can use even more to help improve his ability to disengage." Dupree had a huge combine. His standing broad jump of 11-feet, 6 inches finished third amongst all prospects at any position, behind only Byron Jones' world record (12-3) and Jamie Collins' 11-7, which tied the previous Indy record. "I wear uniform No. 2 because I'm trying to be No. 1 but I am working like I am No. 2," Dupree said.

Randy Gregory - DL - Cornhuskers
Nebraska edge rusher Randy Gregory "has undeniable athletic ability and flashed greatness in college, but a long list of injuries and academic struggles cannot be totally overlooked," wrote NFLDraftScout.com's Frank Cooney.
"Here is a raw athlete who needs to be coached up and beefed up to play to his potential in the NFL," Cooney wrote. "Gregory's intensity, agility and closing speed scream potential NFL sackmaster." The spindly 6-foot-5 Gregory, who dropped to 218 pounds just after the college season ended, ran a 1.60 10-yard split on his 4.57 forty at the NFL Combine. He wants to play linebacker at the next level. "Honestly, I feel a little bit more comfortable [at linebacker]. ... You get that natural athletic stance and get to show your athleticism. I'm always excited to do linebacker drills and I thought I did real well today," Gregory said after pro day workouts.

Being a GM or any position high up in scouting would be a hoot. Not sure I'd make great decisions but I'd would definitely get a kick out of scouting prospects for a job.
