A few missed opportunities early - hopefully they don't come back to bite us.

10-second runoff

The following situations result in a 10-second game clock runoff if the team in possession of the ball is trailing or the game is tied and the team in possession of the ball has no timeouts remaining in that half. If there are less than 11 seconds left in the half or game, the half or game is ended by such runoff.

If that's the rule, we just got jobbed, big time!

He had a great return.

And there's still another half. Something tells me we're going to hear from CP before this game is over. Teddy is gaining confidence with every throw. I'm looking for him to find CP a few times.

@MikePereira: Minnesota could have called a timeout to save the 10 sec runoff

They should have gotten the call right to begin with.

I'm pretty sure the offense can elect to call a timeout to prevent the runoff. They didn't because they had 13 seconds which is more than enough time to run two plays. Well you would think but norv decides to get cute and screws us.

Why would he call a TO after a touchdown?

Jim Souhan ✔ @SouhanStrib

Terrible rule, running off 10 seconds there. Ref misses call; Vikings penalized. Stupid.

i'm trying to figure that out too. Why is that rule in place? At the moment, I can't think of a way a team could force a review in the final minute so why the automatic run-off?
It wouldn't surprise me if this rule gets changed. I can see a 10 second run off if we didn't have any timeouts but since we had a timeout we should have been given the option to use the time out and no time run off.

Wow.

Well, that's a rookie head coach, I guess. But shouldn't Norv know that rule?

Oh well. We get the ball to start the half. Let's pull away early.

Yes the ref's made a mistake. here is the rule.

Replay Reviews and 10-Second Runoffs
If a video replay review is ordered in the final minute of either half while the clock is running, the officials will order 10 seconds run off the clock. Either team can prevent the runoff by using a timeout. This rule prevents a team that is out of timeouts from gaining any benefit from a clock stoppage caused by replay review.

After the play was reviewed, he would have been given the opportunity to use his timeout.
