Adrian Peterson is a world class athlete, and, judging solely by his on-field performance and physical fitness level, he has elite strength. The idea that anyone would think that it is acceptable for someone that strong to strike a four-year-old to the extent that it leaves cuts is stomach churning. For all of you who grind the old axe that "I was hit when I was a kid, and I am just fine", I am fairly certain that none of you were struck by someone with the strength of Adrian Peterson.

My heart is just sick about this because Adrian Peterson has been one of my favorite players, period. I can accept the fact that as a human being, he has faults. But this... this is a deal breaker. I will always appreciate what Peterson did for the team and for the game, but I cannot support him knowing that he caused injury to his son. I have close personal experience with physical abuse and, while he may have not intended to hurt his child, his lack of judgement about the appropriate extent of punishment cannot be ignored.

I don't hate AD, I do not think he is a monster, or a bum, or a loser. I just don't want to have to cheer for him any more.

Good post. I agree, no matter how we were disciplined, you don't take a stick out on a 4 year now. I was the worst kid ever, but I never got a switch when I was 4. He must have no shame, at all.

When you were 4? I took some heavy discipline, hand, belt and what not, but I don't recall anything when I was that young.

In my case, the discipline I received from my father was far beyond what AP laid down. My father WAS an athlete at the pro level. He was 6'3 and 300lbs of pure muscle. He would be in jail for the rest of his life if he disciplined me TODAY like he did when I was a child.

And I would be in jail, because I wouldn't have learnt my lesson from that monster of man.

That's the truth. Believe me or not, it matters little.

I see this as a simple thing. AP disciplined HIS child in a way SOME PEOPLE don't agree with. And because of this his entire life is going to be over? His career? His freedom taken away?

The child was NOT hurt. No broken bones. No major injuries. I think everyone is taking this 'beating' stuff a little far. Probably cause most have never really had one or even seen one personally.

You're right, I'm sure it didn't hurt at all. And lord knows, the standard for abuse should be broken bones/major injuries.

I'm not sure why its assumed that a strong person can't use all their strength at any given moment.

I'm just saying, lets say Peterson is at 25 percent.
Peterson's 25 percent is like almost anybody else's 110 percent whaling the snot out of somebody.
