So, by your logic (And some other folks' I've seen on here) since Cassel threw the bomb to Cordarrelle, in the Chief's game, while he was covered by a 3rd-string undrafted free-agent from BYU playing in place of the starter- Eric Berry...... Maybe that shouldn't count...

So against starters, Matt cassel only threw 1 Touchdown in 5 1/2 Quarters of play..... oh ya and an INT

This is a flawed logic that "Oh Teddy only did good cause he was up against the 2s".

It's like the same guys that defend Cassel's mediocre play as "He's doing a good job with limited opportunities"

are the same ones who quickly dismiss Teddy's stellar performance as "He only did good vs 2s, or he didn't do it against starting defenses"

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS
You can't praise Matt Cassel's performance thus far, and say with what hes been given hes done a good job, and then negate Ted's performance citing circumstances and this and that. THEY BOTH HAVE HAD LIMITED OPPORTUNITIES - TED MADE MORE OUT OF HIS

You obviously don't need me to say anything, since you can put all those words in my mouth that i didn't say. I merely asked a question, because I don't watch other team's preseason games.

Sorry I assumed. It was a stretch to lump you in with those who hold that perspective, but I thought it was a nice segway into addressing that mindset. My bad

Who is dismissing Teddy's performance? I don't recall that really being a reason for most of us settling in with Cassel as quarterback.

Just checking: We won the Rams game with Cassel playing QB, right?

My take is simple. We are playing well enough to win with Cassel. Why mess with that at this point? His performance was pretty good (if you go by passer rating). If you want to go by the (subjective) "eye-test" then he was apparently average to below-average. In any case, if I do an "apples-to-apples" comparison of the QBs in pre-season performance (yes - that was preseason - but it reflects how BOTH performed in the "meaningless" pre-season games). Cassel edged out Bridgewater. I realize now the games are "for real" but how does one conclude Bridgewater will perform better than Cassel now, when he ostensibly couldn't before.

Make no miostake: They are "close" to each other, and I believe that Bridgewater will eventually take the job. Why the hurry to make that happen?

This argument is really simple... We have 2 QB's capable of starting in the NFL right now...this is a good thing compared to where we have been. Who should or should not start is an invalid argument at this stage, because what we have now is stable, and we're winning.

Really it reminds me of the Rivers/Brees situation in San Diego. Granted Cassel is not Brees, but it is similar in the fact that we have a QB playing decent, and we have a young unproven guy with a huge amount of potential. I want Teddy on the field, but I say let him sit for the year as long as Cassel is winning.

Does anybody have the number on the last time/number of QBs who have thrown an INT in every quarter of the game?

Teddy would have just gotten killed when all were going to do is throw the ball. Cassel had a bad game, but I don't really want Teddy back there until Kalil plays at least average, and Johnson is finally replaced. Even Sully got beat a lot.

No, Cassel didn't have a bad game, he is just a bad quarterback.

I don't think anybody here is actually Holding out for cassell. Everybody wants Teddy to play asap. Question is: Is he ready? It's not a good arugument to say he couldn't do any worse than cassell. Starting before he is ready will, I SAID WILL ruin his career. When Teddy is ready he will Play. Cying about it won't bring him along any faster

On the issue of "when should Teddy start?" , my answer is "as soon as starting would be beneficial to his development". You don't want to throw him to the wolves and play him when he's not grasping things and it may set his development and confidence back.

Cassel is a placeholder until that time. When we get to that point, even if Cassel is the better QB at that point, I'd rather have Teddy in there picking up reps.
