Ponder quotes,
I will give Ponder some credit he owns the failure a little. He also confirms what most experts are saying Bridge Water will be starting at some point; time will
tell how long that really is.
Ponder is really a class act. After reading the article Ponder basically understands that he will most likely end up elsewhere in the future, probably Cassel too. Though Cassel is the obvious starter going into training camp and possibly the season, the main priority is to get Bridgewater as ready as they can. Kinda feel bad for him. Such a nice guy but if only his football skills matched his personality. He needs to go on a team who has a coach that can really groom QBs. I've seen some people say SF. I know Harbaugh as a knack for getting the most out of lesser talented QBs. Too bad it didn't work out here. I thought after 2012 he was going to be the guy but his 2013 season was just awful.

I agree that was a classy thing to do. I give NFL players a little credit too, I can't imagine being early twenties and having screw you money..
Shoot, I did some slightly dumb things without a lot of money. That being said, i don't think Ponder worked hard at all to learn the QB role or
improve. This was not helped by Coach Sugar; who refused to hold him accountable. Maybe if Ponder had a real coach he would have learned
and worked out for the Vikings.

The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

There are some things that only time fixes and sometimes not even then. Ponder's main issue, IMO, has been decision making. Not that the decisions he makes (normally) are horrible ... but the speed in which he makes them is. That's also why I think Cassel looks better. Sure, he might make a horrible decision leading to an INT, but at least when he does make a good decision the ball leaves his hands early enough for it to matter.
There have been several times I've seen Ponder throw a ball that, maybe thrown one second earlier, would have been a completion but was instead incomplete or an interception.
This might never get better for Ponder (and the Vikings certainly shouldn't spend any more time waiting for it to ... which they haven't) but you hear all the time about the "Speed" of the game and how the "game slows down" after time. If that happens for Ponder at some point he might turn the corner. It was clear to me last season though that he still hadn't adjusted to the speed of the NFL.

Yeah, that's a big part of it. The London game was a huge example of that. Jennings had a huge day and did very little
with Ponder. IMO Cassel would be a good enough QB on the right team to win a Superbowl much like Johnson did. I know
a lot of Vikings fans don't care for him, but last year Frazier did him no favors, and he played pretty good IMO.

I don't know about that ... Johnson's type of play was generally conservative favoring ball-security. When I watch Cassel play I feel like he wants to put up Manning numbers but doesn't have the decision making ability to do so.

I think Cassel has a faster release though and a few other things that would even things out.
He had a huge year with Kansas City in 2010//over 3000 yards 93 rating

Yeah, I can see why that Kansas City season makes you optimistic, plus he did pretty well in his backup role in NE. Pair that with the fact of the reports that Turner wanted him last season and it sounds like he might have a chance. It's entirely possible that he just wasn't a very good fit for Musgrave's offense.
Honestly though, I'm hoping Bridgewater can beat him out in camp. I'd rather them not spend any more time on stop gaps and I think Brdigewater has the mentality to overcome the adversity of starting his rookie year even if it doesn't go well.
