Aaron Maybin

I just noticed that Aaron Maybin, 2009 #11 pick of the Buffalo Bills, 26 years old, retired from the NFL on May 13th.

Maybin was one of the more interesting sub-stories of last summer's Hard Knocks series covering the Bengals. He was just trying to catch on one last time with a team and was ultimately cut during training camp. They did a good bit of filming of Maybin away from training camp, where he's a fairly accomplished artist. The general feeling was that Maybe enjoyed playing football, but didn't really eat, sleep and breath it, as many of the other players in camp.

His retirement isn't all that surprising. It's one of those woulda-coulda stories where the outcome isn't as sad as that of others who don't make it. He'll do OK.
