Ponder does tend to look pretty good when he has the red jersey on though, it's mainly when the pressure ramps up that his mechanics and decision making falls apart.
In all fairness, at 100% speed Teddy is also reacting at full speed.

From the guy that nailed the Barr pick:

Ponder views QB job an open competition
A lot of eyes will be on quarterback Christian Ponder as the Vikings open their first of three organized workouts this week. Most media members and Vikings fans are of the opinion that Matt Cassel has the position locked up, and some are confident Ponder, the former first-round draft choice from Florida State, won’t be a member of the team when the Vikings report to Mankato for training camp in late July.

I happened to disagree. I believe there is a chance Ponder will do a lot better this year under Norv Turner’s new offensive system.

IMO it is a smart move on the coaching staff. Ponder's resume to date isn't stellar, but he is a guy under contract. The new staff would be stupid to not see what he can do in Practice. (People are acting like they said he would start a few games...) The way I see it, there is nothing but upside to this. Ponder to date has been a dissapointing starting QB, which is why they gave Matt Cassell his contract. If Ponder suddenly becomes a good QB, however unlikely, that is nothing but a positive for the team.

Either way Matt Cassel is atop the depth chart. He took all the first-team reps we saw at the extra minicamp last month.

"All three Vikings quarterbacks got an opportunity to run with the first group, and Christian Ponder’s best moment of the day came during one of those reps. He diagnosed the defensive look pre-snap and adjusted his protection before taking a snap from the gun formation. After taking the snap, Ponder manipulated the safeties and identified single coverage on Simpson. Seeing an opportunity to let Simpson make a play, Ponder lofted a perfectly-placed pass in a spot over the top of the cornerback and underneath the safety, allowing Simpson to make a leaping catch for what would’ve been a 30-yard completion down the right sideline."

I agree. Plus practice speed and game time speed are two different elements. I don't want to label Ponder as a "practice player" but it sure does seem that way.

For those who don't know what the term practice player is, it's a player who look great in practice but terrible during real games.

Clean slate, recovered from three years of injuries and piss poor coaching, let the cards fall as they may. I believe he will be a starter again either with the Vikings or another NFL team.

Can't believe after the TJoke mess Ponder is getting the same treatment. They aren't any good. No amount of lip service and fluff pieces are going to change it, and team released propaganda doesn't mean a lick.

Open competition. I wonder if they've really convinced Ponder himself of that.

How about my dude, Simpson, though? :-D And my Teddy "throwing bombs"?

Thanks for the link. Definitely some good stuff there.
You like Jerome too? I do as well. I even like his little first down mini celebration.
Just hope he can clean up his act. He old enough to behave like an adult now.

From one of the links above:
Bridgewater Displays Discipline
After connecting with Jennings earlier in practice on such a long pass, it’d be easy to understand a little over-ambition from Bridgewater. But the rookie displayed some veteran decision making a few moments later. He had a receiver running an out-and-up route who had beaten his defender and flashed open, but a safety was lurking over the top and would’ve been in position for a play on the ball. Rather than risking that outcome, Bridgewater held back and found Adrian Peterson in the flat for a check down and what would’ve been a first down gain.
Lady and gents...That is a quarterback. :v):

How can you not love this face? Those eyes!!!! If there's one positive thing I can say about Ponder, it would be that he has great taste in women.

she will leave him soon don't worry, he's a bum as a starting qb. she can do better. he might hang on to her for a couple of years being a backup, but after that his football career will be over. ponder is old news even seeing his name on these boards makes me want to projectile vomit.
