I even wanted him in the 2nd if we didn't get teddy. The drug test didn't sound like anything at all other then the dehydration issue. I don't think he was out snorting a line.

We are going to need another QB, Ponder will be gone next year and we have Cassel for only 2 years.

There's another draft next year. They might bring in an undrafted free agent QB this year but I seriously doubt they'll spend another pick on the position.

Who knows? Maybe Ponder will be back next year.

Poor Zach Mettenberger. Weren't some folks projecting him as the Vikings 2nd round pick at #40?

They said he has a chronic issue with his spine of all things so there are big time health concerns. Then there is that failed "diluted" drug test and not to mention the torn ACL which ironically is the least of his problems.

"Mettenberger was found to have a diluted sample at the NFL combine's drug test, and about 36 hours before the draft's first round is to begin, NFL.com reported Wednesday morning that a number of NFL teams have medically flagged him because of a back condition called spondylolysis.

According to WebMD.com, spondylolysis is "a defect or fracture of one or both of the wing-shaped parts of a vertebra. These "wings" help keep the vertebrae in place. When a "wing" is absent, defective from birth, or damaged, a vertebra can slide forward or backward over the bone below, sometimes pressing on the spinal cord or a nerve root. This slipping, called spondylolisthesis, usually happens at the base of the spine. Symptoms of spondylolisthesis can include back pain and numbness or weakness in one or both legs, sometimes leading to a loss of leg function."

Not something you want to be playing football with for a long period of time I imagine.

I doubt the Vikes would have drafted him anyway after selecting Bridgewater in R1. I expect them to look to the defense again.

It would have been awesome if the Vikes got both Teddy B and Murray!!!!!

Another trade? It makes you wonder if Ricky is more concerned with hitting his 10 pick target than getting the best overall draft!!!!! Oh well, hopefully he got better value for this trade than the last

What did you think of the Teddy pick Jim? I was beat and went to bed shortly after we got him and was kind of out of it due to dental work.

I like the Bridgewater pick a lot. I stayed up thinking the Vikes might trade back into R1 and when they did, I was excited. I don't think Bridgewater is a slam dunk but he plays smart, he's experienced and he's accurate, all characteristics I think are important to succeed at the next level. I'm hoping he'll be the guy who solves the Vikes QB problems.
