Whoever said what was reported about the results if that study were truthful? That was conveniently leaked a day before the draft. Did the source that reported this even see the study or report what they were told from a "team source"?mmvikes wrote:Heard on Mike and Mike this morning. The legendary "deep analytics" that the Browns underwent with the monkeys throwing darts? The article was published by Jane Goodall, et al. The central thesis argues for the application of a BMA (Best Monkey Available) strategy.mmvikes wrote:Heard on Mike and Mike this morning. Two Minute Tommy.
Wade Wilson. Took us within a dropped TD pass of a Super Bowl we would have been favored in.
Brad Johnson. Won a Super Bowl with another team.
Rich Gannon. Super Bowl with another team.

Sal Paolantonio reported it. Pretty good source.dead_poet wrote: Whoever said what was reported about the results if that study were truthful? That was conveniently leaked a day before the draft. I don't doubt that Sal reported what was told to him. I just question that what was reported to him was, in fact, the truth.mmvikes wrote: Sal Paolantonio reported it. Pretty good source.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
Here in Houston, the local media anticipated drafting Bridgewater with the first pick in round 2. The Vikes thought enough of him to move up. I was hoping for Carr or Garapalo or Mettenberger. Pro Day for Bridgewater was almost painful to watch. He couldn't hit the side of a barn and his passes had no zip whatsoever. Now we have 3 quarterbacks. I don't anticipate the team will carry three in to the season. I expect Ponder to be gone by the final cuts before the season starts. They'll keep three through camp just to make sure they know what they have. Lets all hope for the best and pray we don't have another Ponder to ponder....

The way the QBS went in the draft seems to me dictate that more and more teams are drafting for need instead of strictly BPA, expecially after the top 5 picks

Houston would have taken him 100& FOR SURE. OK we get it, you don't like Teddy right now but I would bet you will by the end of the seasonmosscarter wrote:who would have taken bridgewater by 40???????????????? let me know. the answer is no one.

From what I have read the Vikings had several visits with Teddy, held private workouts. I think they said he was up in Minnesota for a 2 or 3 day visit. Teddy himself seemed confident the Vikings were going to take him. Only a few months ago he was the consensus number one pick. I don't understand how his entire body of work gets trumped by one so so pro day. Makes NO SENSE!

Re: vikes wanted manziel
@AlbertBreer: My understanding is the Vikings' offer to Philly for 22 to get Manziel wasn't real close to Cleveland's, from the Eagles' perspective.
@AlbertBreer: Also, the motivation in Vikings only dropping from 8 to 9 was keeping Barr from Titans. With deal up for Teddy, it was the 5th-year option.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
Imho Manziel has never been a target.
A only fourth round to make sure Teddy and 5th-year option, it's okey.
I'm not so sure it would come down to 40th (come on mosscarter, are you a seer? impossible to predict the moves of houston, rams, raiders, buccs)
Rick has asked all teams a trade not expensive (2.8 + 3.32 or 4.8 )

Maybe Dennard? Or TeddyPurplemania wrote:We wanted the 22nd pick. It doesn't mean we wanted Manziel. And I agree, if we wanted Manziel we would've drafted him at 9.
Probable.mondry wrote: Was just about to say the same thing. Spielman declined to comment on it when asked by a reporter so for all we know, they wanted 22 to get Bridgewater and couldn't find another trade partner until seattle was willing at #32.
Even so, I think it was much more Manziel 1A and Bridgewater 1B. I think those were the two QB's we were interested in and both rated closely together. Bridgewater was the #1 QB or even pick a few months ago and I just don't believe we "panic picked" him at #32... I think that was a calculated move to get past Houston and Oakland.

Understanding schmunderstanding. Understanding BASED ON WHAT? Was Rick Spielman whispering in his ear all night? This is gossip, not information. I don't believe for a second that the Vikes wanted JM.

Re: vikes wanted manziel
Everyone ought to just cool off. The truth of the matter is that this was a mediocre draft class for Quarterbacks and the Vikings really needed one. NOW we have a prospect. There is no definitive way to be certain which one was best. If there WAS a sure bet, they woulda been picked much earlier. I am just happy we now have a potential Quarterback at least.
