I'd actually be okay with a guard at #8 if he's really high quality / BPA. We have Peterson, we have shaky QB play, better protection is a big deal for this team. I know this probably won't be popular but I actually think left guard is the weakest position on the team right now. All we have is a really bad journeyman there, at least at LB we have some young bodies who have an outside shot to become average starters, same thing at CB.

A guy like Martin is intriguing because he supposedly can play every position (even though he never played at G while at ND) or a guy like Robinson who is a beast in the run game but probably needs a little polishing before stepping up to that next level in terms of being a possible elite tackle. I'm rather agnostic on this one. On one hand I think a guy like Robinson can really play at an elite level but on the other, I see guys like Yankey dropping pretty far now and he's the type of guy who would be an instant upgrade to the position and could be had most likely in the 2nd or maybe even 3rd.

What we really should have done is kept Schwartz and kicked Charlie to the curb but no use crying over spilled milk I guess. They might also like what they saw in Baca as they were in no rush to retain Johnson.

FWIW, Mayock is super high on Martin. On his mock that was just released he has Martin going #9 overall to Buffalo.

I don't think it'd be that bad to draft him and stick him at guard. We have some talent at the other four positions, young talent, so we could shore that up and he just might be the best player at 8 as well.

16. Minnesota Vikings (trade from Cowboys) -- C.J. Mosley, LB, Alabama: The Vikings get a high pick or two to move down and get the new leader of their defense. They have the firepower to do well in the second round to grab a safety and a quarterback.

I hope that if we trade back we don't trade back past #16, . I don't think we will need to trade back too far, I think we will know by Clevelands pick at #4 if we will find anyone willing to trade with.The Rams could surprise us and trade back in the draft. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Just a thought: has any team traded back in the first round and then traded back again? I highly doubt it happens often (if at all), but in a draft this "deep", it'd be interesting. I wonder how many second rounders we could theoretically get in that situation. Obviously you have to weigh the cons about getting a lower-graded player, but...something to ponder. Not Christian Ponder, though.

I could be wrong but I think the Patriots did this a few years ago...? Traded down to the bottom of rd 1 and then did it again. They had a boatload of 2nd/3rd round picks. Anyone else remember this? I'm too lazy to research

You're right. They traded back two spots, then traded back two spots again. Not very dramatic, but I guess it technically counts. They drafted McCourty (R1), Gronkowskii (R2, via trade), Cunningham (R2, original pick), Spikes (R2, via trade), Taylor Price (R3 via trade), Hernandez (R4 via trade), Zoltan Mesko (R5, via trade) and some later-round guys.

BTW, the final went well and I'm graduating from college on Saturday and the draft starts tomorrow night. It's going to be a good weekend, you guys.
