A bust is someone who did not live up to his expectations after the draft. I don't consider Jackson a bust because he wasn't projected to be anything special to begin with. I remember Childress or somebody compared him to Michael Vick. T-Jack came from a small school in Montgomery, AL named Alabama State University. Also the school I currently attend. :D He was good here but I never projected him as a franchise NFL QB. The last QB from this city to ever be something was Bart Starr. Even he went to a big school to further his progression as a QB.

As for being successful, many QBs have won super bowl rings on the expense of being on a winning team. My middle school principle, by the name of Bobby E. Abrams played for the NFL years ago. You probably never heard of him. But he has a super bowl ring with the Giants from Super Bowl XXV. Two rings from the Dallas Cowboys, Super Bowl XXVII and Super Bowl XXVIII. I don't think he has ever played a down because if you will barely find stats on him, if any. If he was any good, he be do something besides teach at some ghetto middle school in Montgomery, AL. Well he doesn't teach there anymore. History also shows that he actually played for the Vikings for a season or two back in 1993 and 1994. He played linebacker I think.

So basically what I saying. Many players have super bowl rings because they were fortunate to be on a winning team. That doesn't mean that player was any good. Just very lucky. Abrams has 3 super bowl rings and he's currently struggling keep his principal job at public schools. T-Jack will be in his shoes soon.

Thanks for clearing that all up for me

The main thing keeping Jackson from being labeled a bust is his 2nd round draft position. Coming out of college, he was little more than a twinkle in the eye of Brad Childress. Nobody else in the NFL has seen him as anything more than a short-term backup. He's thrown a total of 13 passes in the last two years, and that's about all you need to know about how successful he's been.

Gotta love being a Viking fan. Nothing ever really changes.

Ever see the movie Groundhog Day?

You haven't gone back in time. You've been living the same day over and over and over again. I see the 2007 dates on those posts and I remember the arguments like they were yesterday. And the arguments haven't changed, the participants in the threads haven't changed, the tone hasn't changed - in SEVEN years.

Well, hey, would you look at that? I was right.

Christ. I remember how bad I wanted Steve Smith out of USC that year. Sidney Rice wasn't a bad consolation prize though.

Anyway, can someone remind me why a seven year old thread was dug up?

If we didn't draft TJ he would not have been drafted at all by any other team. Now that's what I call reaching

But this?
HardcoreVikesFan wrote: Exactly my point! Smith and Jackson the new Carson and Johnson! I just don't think we really need Peterson on this team. :)
Not so good. :D

Webbfann is just mean for digging this up, but I bet it is pretty hilarious to read through old stuff. Yikes.

Webbfan has no room to talk about QBs being bad. I'd pick T-Jack over Joe Webb any day.

Any fan who thinks like that is a fool. T-Jack was solid in high school and college. It's just the fact that he came from a small school that NFL scouts often look down on compared to division 1 schools.

Haha, oh the mind of 14 year old me. SMH.

What's funny is I literally changed my tune on Peterson about two weeks leading up to the draft. It was around then that the possibility of him falling to us became more realistic. I have to admit though, I was pretty sold on Chester Taylor after his breakout season in 2006.

To be honest, I was pissed for about 5 minutes when we drafted AP. I knew it was a possibility before the draft, but thought Chester would be better anyways. After his first TD, it was very clear we had something special.

Lets hope we can strike gold again this year.

Have to agree there. I'd rather TJ than Ponder too

Considering all the arguments we used to have over Tarvaris, I gotta say I am pretty shocked to hear you admit that Laserman!!! :)
