Teddy Bridgewater - QB - Cardinals

Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater's pro day workout was "very average at best," according to NFL Network's Mike Mayock.

"Most quarterbacks have good Pro Days," Mayock added. Multiple balls hit the ground during Bridgewater's workout, as he tended to sail or lead his receivers a bit too much. As The MMQB's Greg A. Bedard pointed out, Bridgewater did not wear gloves during the workout, something that he has done since high school. Rotoworld's Josh Norris will not waiver from listing Bridgewater as the top prospect in this class and a quality starter in the NFL.

Justin Gilbert - DB - Cowboys

Oklahoma State CB Justin Gilbert "solidified his status in the top half of the first round" by putting on "a standout performance" at Oklahoma State's Thursday pro day, according to NFL.com's Gil Brandt.

The NFL was well represented in Stillwater, as all 32 teams sent at least one employee to check out Cowboys' prospects. Notably, six defensive back coaches, Patriots assistant to the coaching staff Michael Lombardi, and the general manager (Kevin Colbert) and head coach (Mike Tomlin) of the Steelers were in attendance. "Gilbert looked outstanding in the position drills," wrote Brandt. "He was especially adept at backpedaling. Gilbert cemented his position as a top-15 caliber draft pick."

I have a feeling Bortles isn't falling.

I have heard nothing but good things about him since the lead up to the combine. I did not know too much about him until college football season ended, but the more I read, see and hear about him, the more I hope he somehow does fall to #8. Him or Mack would be absolute steals for the Vikes, but I don't think either one makes it to 8

I still say Dennard will become the better corner in the NFL.

I personally like Gilbert more, although I don't think you can go wrong with either pick. Dennard's value is only in press man coverage though, which I think will hurt his stock. Gilbert is more versatile, has shown the ability to play man and zone, off and press, can return punts and has a better knack for big plays.

Bridgewater will be a solid starter in this league. His film speaks for it self. His abilty to read defenses make the right throws and poise in the pocket are all things he does very well. His only question marks are size fixable and deep ball accuracy also fixable especially with norv working with him. I don't see where all the doubt is coming from?

He missed some practice throws. Bust written all over him. Once he drops down to 206 we may be able to pick him up as an undrafted free agent.

LOL! Yeah, it was a workout and apparently, he had an off day. Not a big deal... the tape already shows what he can do and presumably, most NFL teams scouted him in person last year.

Maybe it's just me but it really seems like there's a tendency at this time of year to focus on the flaws of players rather than what they can do well. It's as if everyone is looking for reasons not to draft them rather than reasons they should be drafted.

It's kind of the default way we humans have developed to limit and avoid risk. In the stock market for example, it's usually more important to someone not that they make $100, but that they don't lose $10. We put more emphasis / priority on not falling compared to climbing to the top. It's not surprising to me that a lot of people are doing their draft analysis based on the negative or a "process of elimination" kind of approach. Can we check off every single box for this guy? NO? He's not worth it!

I guess that's probably why I love Manziel and 10 others scratched him off. With that kind of approach there is no way you could see Manziel for what he CAN DO, but he has plenty of reasons for someone to write him off.

Virtually every analyst who saw him throw would disagree with you. I know you like this guy, DP, but you can't just discount what actually took place. I've watched reports on three different networks now -- the criticism is consistent, and my (admittedly amateur) eyes tell me it's legitimate. Maybe Bridgewater just had a bad day, but the things he struggled with are the things scouts have questioned all along.

And the question scouts are asking is this: If he can't perform in a staged event, indoors, with his own hand-picked receivers, after practicing his routine for 2 months, what is he going to do when he's under actual NFL pressure? As the analysts said, typically quarterbacks SHINE on pro days. Bridgewater most certainly did not.

It's not an overreaction. It's simply legitimate concern. Yes, that's a far cry from "sure-fire bust," but it's certainly not the situation you'd like if you're Bridgewater's agent.

I'm pretty sure an agreement between the Vikings and Bridgewater was made that if Teddy purposely bombed the pro day, that in return, the Vikings would take him at 8.
