So basically, they've agreed to a deal, right? Can they actually sign him before free agency officially begins at 3 PM today?
I'm confused about how this works now.
Not exactly sure either, but when these insiders say it is a done deal, it usually is, so I'm not sure it really matters if it happens now or in a few hours. This afternoon is probably just when it becomes "official".
ESPN - Bucs expected to release Pro Bowl CB Darrelle Revis if can't trade him, sources told Adam Schefter
Hmm. I think with the release of Revis, the Bucs will definitely nab Tillman, especially because of the link to Lovie. Boo. That's fine, we'll take Revis then.

Probably... it's clear that teams can agree to terms with free agents before that time so maybe that's just when the league office is "open" to receive official paperwork or something. I guess I should just look it up!

They can sign them once the new league year starts, which is at 4pm EST. Until then it's more or less a handshake deal.

Revis still wants to be paid 16 mil a year, No thanks.
Tillman, on the cheap, would be nice here. But I think your right, he goes to TB, even though they already signed Verner.

I would LOVE Tillman in purple.
And the way I understand it is, Revis doesn't want to take a pay cut in a trade. I think it's a control thing. Why take a pay cut to play for the Raiders or Browns when you can take a pay cut and play for a team of your choice? He'll make his money, but he'll realize real shortly it won't be 16 million.
Whoa. How would this work? Sign they're not sold on Floyd to take over full time? Melton is one of the league's best 3-technique DTs. Probably would close the door on Williams returning, if signed (unless Kevin wouldn't mind playing NT on the cheap).
Henry Melton will make a free agent visit to Minnesota tomorrow, according to a league source.

Tillman is awesome, but he'll play for Lovie in a second over coming here. He's not a great cover guy anymore but dude is bomb in the tackle/FF area. Durability is an issue.
Don't think Revis wil get $16 Million, but some team will pay top dollar for him. If he's at $12M right now...Vikes have to attempt. He's one of the best CBs of the past decade...if not the best.
I'm guessing a depth move? He was killer before he went down with week 3 ACL
That doesn't strike me as a depth move because he was such a good starter. It obviously depends on the state of his ACL. If Melton gets back to form, he could help the Vikes develop a killer rotation on the interior of their DL. It's encouraging to see them explore this sort of possibility.
I wonder if signing Melton would mean the end of Kevin Williams career as a Viking though...
I don't know, I really just want to see what Floyd has to offer for the Vikes. He was projected to go #3 overall in many early mocks last year. I wouldn't be mad if we got Melton.
Another DB I wonder about: Brandon Browner. He'll be suspended first four games, but he was becoming nasty in SEA and seems like a dude Zimmer would love at CB.
