He was benched with Foster still in the line up. He was telegraphed and showed extremely poor footwork with a good WR like Andre Johnson and 1st round pick DeAndre Hopkins. Do not touch him. He's fine if his team has the lead but he can't compete in NFC North.KSViking wrote:I may have missed the threads, and I didn't really watch what happened last season in Houston, but whats going on with Matt Schaub. Is he washed up? he just have a bad year? Year before last, saw him chewing teams up, then last year, he is benched, Foster is injured, whole team fell apart. Seemed alot like what happened with the Colts the year Peyton couldn't play.
Is Schaub on option for us as a bridge QB? Would we even want him?

Supposedly 7 teams have expressed interest so far.The Chicago Tribune reports the Buccaneers are making a "hard push" to sign free agent DE Michael Johnson.
Over a handful of teams interested in Verner, as well. Come on, Vikes!

ESPN.com's Ben Goessling reported that the Vikings "called to express interest" Saturday after teams were given permission to dial up free agents ahead of Tuesday's open-market launch.
Alterraun Verner called by Minnesota Vikings:

This seems to be a very good idea to sign him and solve their CB woes. I can't stand another season of Cook getting cooked.

I think this guy could change possibly he is broke now and needs a second chance maybe
he reach his potential.
I know i would want a incentive based contract and Vince young to see a sports based therapist.

It's a thought but at this point, he's a 30 year old QB who's already had a second chance in the NFL (and a third). If the Vikes want to engage in a reclamation project, it would probably make more sense to bring Freeman back but neither move seems advisable to me.jackal wrote:http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/3602/vince-young

I don't see the Vikings parting ways with Ponder just yet. Someone mentioned hostility between the organization and Ponder, but I don't see that. They've given him every possible chance and if they haven't released him by now, he should be grateful. So it will be Cassel, Ponder, a drafted QB and probably an MBT-type or undrafted rookie as a fourth arm going into training camp.

Falcons may be implementing more 3-4 elements on D. Very aggressively pursuing Miami NT Paul Soliai

Verner goes to Jets or Skins I bet. Rickie will be caught snoozing, enjoying his recent signings.

Or he doesn't want to be fiscally irresponsible. I don't think the guy is worth $10 million/year.PurpleKoolaid wrote:Verner goes to Jets or Skins I bet. Rickie will be caught snoozing, enjoying his recent signings.

... or Verner will just decide he wants to play for another team. It's not like Spielman really has a choice in the matter. All he can do is make an offer. Some fans don't seem to get that.dead_poet wrote: Or he doesn't want to be fiscally irresponsible. I don't think the guy is worth $10 million/year.

For as much as I want Verner, what is the point of tying 8 million (plus) in cap space into one corner? If Verner doesn't want to come here, fine. There are other options out there and there is the draft yet.

Rolando McClain planning comeback. Should we sign him?
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000 ... l-comeback
What do you guys think of signing Rolando McClain? He is only 24 years old and coach Zimmer has been known to turn around players that have had trouble in the past. He showed potential in his second year with oakland where he racked up 5 sacks and had 14 pass deflections. We could probably sign McClain to a very cheap deal, and he would provide more depth at the LB position. If McClain is serious about coming back then i would seriously take a look at signing him.

Sure, bring him into camp on a minimum deal. We could use competition at the position.oldskoolvikingfan wrote:http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200000 ... l-comeback

Though I also am cautioning people that think Zimmer is some wise, magic sage that can turn any underperforming player with issues into a straight-laced Pro Bowler. Let's temper expectations for the first-year coach or I fear he's going to get the Frazier treatment before the bye.
