This thread makes me wonder if our culture will survive another 20 years. Apparently Football is now supposed to be the realm of sensitivity training and conflict resolution.

Newsflash: It is an ultra competitive contact sport. You do not win games by being nice. You win by beating the guy lined up across from you.

I say bring him here along with everyother Tough Guy in the league. Can we get Justin Smith from the 49ers too? I would love that.

Here's some more info that speaks volumes about him:

In college, at Nebraska, he repeatedly got into fights and was called for unsportsmanlike conduct penalties. At one point, he was charged with three counts of assault and found guilty on one count of misdemeanor assault. He suspended indefinitely for repeated violations of team rules, got into a fight in the locker room and ultimately had to withdraw from classes and leave Nebraska. He transferred to the University of Oregon but was dismissed after one week for failing to meet the conditions he'd agreed to before his arrival (reportedly an anger-management course).

After joining the Rams, he developed a reputation for hard partying and eventually became a problem on the field again due to his lack of composure and inability to control his temper. He was benched and released because he couldn't control himself on or off the field. He drew more penalties in his 4 years with the Rams than any other player over that span and was called for unnecessary roughness 7 times.

Here's a real gem from Incognito's recent history:

During the Dolphins' annual celebrity golf tournament at the Turnberry Isle Resort and Club in Aventura, Florida, a drunken Incognito harassed a female volunteer at the club. He rubbed her private parts with a golf club, pressed his private parts against her buttocks and dumped water in her face. The matter was referred to Dolphins security. Although former Dolphins wide receiver Nat Moore apologized to her, the volunteer filed a police report after Incognito didn't personally apologize; the matter was later settled after she signed a confidentiality agreement. This incident didn't come to public light until November 2013. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin subsequently confirmed that the Dolphins were aware of the situation, and had taken "immediate action" in response; he didn't elaborate.

Please, don't tell us our comments about this lout are "sad". He has a long and pretty continuous history of being an angry, undisciplined person on and off the field. He's been booted off of two teams for it and as we all know, he was suspended for his involvement in a controversy again last year. I don't care if he's a good football player. He's not the kind of player the Vikings, who have been trying to reduce the amount of bad publicity generated by their players for years, should add to their roster. They would be fools to sign him. He's the kind of player who could screw up a shot to win a division or a playoff game by losing hsi temper and committing an idiotic penalty at the worst possible moment.

The Vikes can find a good guard in the draft or find a free agent to upgrade the position who doesn't have Incognito's anger management and behavioral issues.

Another newsflash: you don't win games by committing stupid penalties, getting in fights, getting suspended when your team needs you, etc. either.

We all know football is a tough, physical contact sport but using that to excuse behavior that's considered unacceptable in society at large and has been found objectionable enough by coaches for Incognito, who is a good football player when he plays under control, to be cut from two teams and suspended by a third despite his abilities is ridiculous. Plenty of players have managed to play, and thrive in, this ultra-competitive contact sport without behaving like a lout or a criminal.

I haven't watched a whole lot of Miami Dolphin football, but I remember last year when all of this controversy came out, the typical Dolphin fan response to him being suspended was Oh well, he wasn't all that good anyway. I don't recall anyone screaming and complaining for their top O-Lineman to be back on the team.

I also think that the Vikings need some good media attention, and not the type that would come from having Incognito on the team. I hate to say it, but Incognito is another one of those guys that New England will probably pick up on the cheap and turn into a serviceable guard for a few more years. I hate that MN has had so much negative media over the years. Also, this is a stereotype, but maybe its because we are midwesterners that all of the negative attention seems to affect our team more. New England has brought plenty of problematic people into their organization, and nobody bats an eyelash. We have a leisurely Dinner Cruise gone wild and our team is going to be forever known for the "Love Boat" incident.

Wells finds Incognito responsible

NFL investigator Ted Wells' report on the Miami Dolphins' bullying scandal concluded that Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Jonathan Martin, but another young Dolphins offensive lineman and an assistant trainer.

The findings of Wells' report were released Friday. He was retained by commissioner Roger Goodell on Nov. 6 to examine the club's workplace environment.

"The Report concludes that three starters on the Dolphins offensive line, Richie Incognito, John Jerry and Mike Pouncey, engaged in a pattern of harassment directed at not only Jonathan Martin, but also another young Dolphins offensive lineman and an assistant trainer," Wells said in a press release. "The Report finds that the assistant trainer repeatedly was the object of racial slurs and other racially derogatory language; that the other offensive lineman was subjected to homophobic name-calling and improper physical touching; and that Martin was taunted on a persistent basis with sexually explicit remarks about his sister and his mother and at times ridiculed with racial insults and other offensive comments."

Here are some facts:

#1 - Incognito is a rough, in-your-face guy. He talks smack. He doesn't pull punches. It's not a bad trait for a professional football player who plays on the line.

#2 - Incognito was cleared of wrongdoing with the JM issue

#3 - Incognito is a GOOD PLAYER. A little dirty at times, but a GOOD, SOLID PLAYER at his position.
