Theres no denying that Ponder is the worse of the two like mrc44 said above. & I agree Cassel might be worth keeping but then the Vikes need to deal with what is owed to Ponder that is still under contract they could end up losing 2.7M. By keeping cassel & letting Ponder go & keeping Cassel It could end up costing the Vikes 6.4M By letting Cassel go it wouldn't cost them anything but Ponder's contract & it will free up 3.7 M a year to sign a pretty good free agent. Yep. The alternatives are truly ugly. That's why I think the Vikings' smart move would be to extend Cassel's contract at a better salary than he's promised in 2014. There are no immediate saviors to be found at #8 in this year's draft. And there are no franchise free agent quarterbacks. Overall, he still just seems marginally better than Ponder to me. The highs are certainly higher and when he's on his game, he looks better, more in command. Given that, if he does figure out a way to get at least average play from the position this year you'd have to recognize it as a complete success and praise him for it accordingly, right?
I know he would say that he would have drafted Russell Wilson or Kaepernick right
