At this time of year (hell, even up to the day of the draft), you can't really take what Spielman says at face value. He's always trying to manipulate the public image of what they are planning to do. Which is exactly what he should be doing, get the discussion going the way you want it so you can take advantage of other teams' assumptions. The year we traded down and still got Kalil was a good example of this.
That said, I actually hope what he's saying is true, and also that they don't covet any of these QB's in the top 10. I'd be okay with Teddy or Manziel if they were to drop, can't say I really like either of them a lot, but I would understand the pick. They are the only two with real upside imo. The rest all max out as "I sure hope he isn't a bust" types to me, at least if picked in the 1st.
Can you imagine what this board will do if we grab a qb first round and its not Bridgewater or JFB? It will go berserk. According to most here anything but those two will be a reach and doom his franchise. I'm excited!

Yeah that's all that's out there. I'm taking it with a grain of salt. They know we need a QB so they just throw us the next best but I don't think it will turn out that way
I know what you mean, but several varying factors ay sway the other way.
Does Cassel stay or go.
How much do they like Carr.
Almost every new coaching staff has to get themselves a QB, especially if there isn't one on the roster.
Reemember, new coaching staffs do not last long without a franchise QB.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

Yeah that's great news thanks for sharing. Like I've said before, I highly doubt Spielman reaches this year. He has seen what can come of that. Unless Teddy or JFB somehow fell to them, I think it's a lock he goes elsewhere in the 1st round.
Who in the HELL IS JFB ?!?!?

BTW- I think any new coaching staff that feels the need to hitch its wagon to a newly drafted QB despite there being none worth drafting won't last long either.
