Re: Mock Offseason
I love Stanley Jean-Baptiste, perfect matchup for the big receivers we face in the division. I think he'd probably contribute less right away than some other speedier cornerbacks, but would pay off more in the long run by being a shutdown guy who has good catching and jump ball skills.

Poor showing in the Senior Bowl? Really? Ok, who wins, because you must have a time machine to move forward and see the game. I would like to bet on the winner.dead_poet wrote:I've been very unimpressed with McCullers. He had a very poor showing at the Senior Bowl as well.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq-FztyrMqQ01/21/14 - 2014 Senior Bowl: 10 observations from Monday's North practice...6. Linenwood CB Pierre Desir and Nebraska CB Stanley Jean-Baptiste are both tall, long defensive backs who have the athleticism to turn and run with receivers downfield. They both did a nice job in press-man to get physical at the line of scrimmage and then ride the receiver through the route, although both got away with a little too much holding. Neither are elite when controlling their start/stop momentum, but neither are allergic to contact either. And with several teams who utilize press-man techniques on defense looking for the next Richard Sherman, both Desir and Jean-Baptiste are players to watch this week. - Dane Brugler, NFLDraftScout.com

You know who else had poor showing in the Senior Bowl? Russell Wilson. Of Course Ponder was MVP. Food for thought.dead_poet wrote:![]()

Heard on ESPN inside the hour that it was Tajh Boyd showing the best arm in all that wind during practice.

That looked like a better DeAndre Hopkins highlight reel than one for Tajh Boyd.King James wrote:youtube

Exactly, which bothers me a bit. Most of his best passes were to Hopkins, who is already a beast of a WR. I don't know if he could translate the same type of play here.
Re: Mock Offseason
I want to like Tajh Boyd, as i'm a fan of mobile QB's who can create yards when the defense has everything covered but i've got a lot of concerns with Boyd.
1. He has had the advantage of throwing to two 1st round picks in his time at Clemson in Hopkins and Watkins. Pretty sure i'd look good throwing to those two.
2. The system he runs at Clemson. On almost every single play he fakes the hand off to the running back like its read option and he pulls out to pass. He had good running backs to fake to in Andre Ellington and now Rod McDowell. Most Likely wont be doing this in the NFL.
3. He's not very fast, when running the ball he's more of a power runner like Tim Tebow. In the NFL Lineman will be able to run him down and if he tries to truck people he will likely be injured.
On the positive side he seems like a bright young guy who has heart and work ethic. I think he will give you everything he's got, but with what i said above I don't think his all will be enough to be a franchise QB.

The only thing I really like from Boyd is his deep ball throws. They are pretty.

Re: Mock Offseason
Yes! He throws a VERY nice deep ball. Everyone always says his WR's make him look good but if we drafted him, he would have CP, Jennings and Wright. Those are still solid WR's either way. It's not like going to Oakland and having nobody. If you're Oakland, how do you not take Sammy Watkins and then take Boyd in like the 3rd. I could see that as a definite possibility. My guess is, Oakland isn't smart enough to do thatKing James wrote:The only thing I really like from Boyd is his deep ball throws. They are pretty.

Re: Mock Offseason
I hate to make this comparison, but I see a lot of Tarvaris Jackson in Tajh Boyd. He's just simply too erratic a passer for me to believe in him. He does throw a lot of pretty balls, especially his deep passes. But as others have said, he's had DeAndre Hopkins and Sammy Watkins to throw to, two WRs who are excellent at locating and going up to get balls over defenders. However that's not really my concern. As I said, he's an erratic passer. He's in a spread, which means a lot of designed runs and short passes with long bombs mixed in, which is a concern and when you extrapolate the times he's throwing more of an NFL route tree, you see a lot of inconsistencies. A lot of his short-intermediate passes sail on his WRs or hit the dirt, which shows an issue with his timing, placement and touch of the football. He's not ideal height, and he's not an exceptional athlete either (although he does make the most of his runs).

Re: Mock Offseason
I don't think they are dumb enough to take Boyd in the 3rd..I really doubt he ends up being anything more than a serviceable backup/spot starter. I bet he gets drafted in the 5th to 6th round. He's not very good.Pondering Her Percy wrote: Yes! He throws a VERY nice deep ball. Everyone always says his WR's make him look good but if we drafted him, he would have CP, Jennings and Wright. He might not go until the 3rd or later but either way, he's been one of the most consistent QBs in college football from year to yearfrosted21 wrote:He's not very good.
