As far as I can tell, the top QBs in the CFL are (in no particular order):

Travis Lulay
Ricky Ray
Antony Calvillo

Lulay is 30, Ray is 34 and Calvillo (Trestman's old CFL QB) is now over 40.
Shame on you!
I heard of this older guy named Kapp that played in Canada, might give him a tryout :)

I actually know a girl who wants to try out for them. I wouldn't mind seeing her in skimpy clothing bumping other women, if you know what I mean...

I honestly would be interested in a women's NFL, legitimately, without the TnA. I imagine it would be more finesse and it might be interesting to see how it evolves.

When I look at our Defense I have to ask myself who on our team could start for a playoff team , I think Smith and Rhodes could, but after that Greenway is a maybe possibility , would have to be in the right situation where he is not asked to cover much , Robison possibly and that is about it. Maybe guys like Floyd, and Griffen could become good players with good coaching,I don't mean to sound so pessimistic but that leaves a lot of holes to fill.

Nah... everyone who didn't play a significant amount of time last season is ready to start for a playoff team. It's just that bumbling incompetents who coached the Vikes last year didn't recognize the ready-to-excel immediately greatness on their bench. ;)

Sarcasm aside, I agree with you. The defense is full of holes. There may be some young players on the roster who can plug them but we just don't know yet and I think you're right to differentiate between players who can start and players who could start for a playoff team. There's a big difference in talent between the Vikings defense and that of, say, the 49ers or Seahawks. It's going to take amore than great coaching to make up that difference.

Dont know if Zach Mettenberger has that franchise look but i think he's the next best thing to Manziel.
Maybe better, seems to have a sharp resolute calm about himself. They say he wont go very high in the draft because of a torn ACL.

I liked what I saw from Mettenberger this year before his injury. He's a big, solid guy w/ a solid arm.

He apparently has some odd hygiene issues (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/01/0 ... 33081.html)

but I do like him as a 2nd or 3rd rd. prospect.

The thing that worries me about picking a QB is this. Say we pick someone at 8. For the heck of it say, Manzial is there and we take him. Someone down the row picks McCarron and he is the one that becomes the next Franchise QB while the Vikings pick is once again the bust.

We all got a little taste of how fast he is with pads on when he was stride for stride with Patterson on that kick return.

I am with you Pondering, I honestly think we have some talented LB's on this team that have not been given a chance to play because Frazier was Fathered up with Henderson and Greenway is the fan favorite that has missed more tackles the older and older he gets.

Gerald Hodges could see some playing time at LB, but he used to be a safety... why not throw him back at safety for a little and see if he still has it? He is the size of Cam Chancellor of Seattle isn't he?. Not saying he wouldnt be good enough to play LB, just throwing it out there.

I think we have a ton of talent on this team, and with Zimmer at HC, this Defense honestly could be top 10 next year with a few players grabbed in draft and FA.

IMHO, Mauti, Cole, Hodges will all see the field next year. Zimmer will most likely run 4-3, he only ran 3-4 under Parcells years ago from my knowledge and has always preferred 4-3 or a 3-4 hybrid.

I can wait to see this teams tenacity on the field next year, its going to get nasty! Guys like Henderson and Cook wont survive Zimmer, no way anyone is gauranteed a spot unless they earn it. no more buddy buddy nonsense in Minny!

By the way... anyone see the wilfs trying to get hardknocks Vikings edition if Zimmer gets hired? HBO loves Zimmer and his personality.
I agree 100% I don't think we will ever get on Hard Knocks as long as Spielman is GM. Spielman is a big worshiper of keeping things behind closed doors. We have denied once already in the past. I would LOVE to see it happen but I just don't think it will. Who knows though

It could happen but you can't hit a home run if you never take a swing.

No kidding, that's why they spend countless hours analyzing and studying these guys.

How about another hypothetical?

Say we pass on Manziel and wait to get a guy like McCarron and he's a bust while Manziel goes on to win 3 super bowls?

It works both ways.
