Harvin or Patterson, who would you take?

Post by Purple bruise »

I am totally sold on CP and although when healthy, Harvin is great player, he is oft injured and I was tiring of him and his headaches. CP has a very high ceiling and seems to be enjoying every moment on the field. I said early that he reminds me of Moss and Harvin rolled into one dynamic player. I would take Patterson over Harvin every time.

I will take the guy who is seemingly happy to be here. And he doesn't have migraines, that's a bonus. I also think he could have a higher upside, and be more durable. I don't think it's even close at this point. And I think the answers will support this same sentiment.

No contest. Patterson every time. I didn't think we'd get a guy with the ability of Harvin, but the fact we'd seem to get a guy that wanted to be here seemed to be a "plus" that might overcome any performance deficiencies between him and Harvin. IMHO we truly got the best of both worlds in this trade. :v):

I swear, my fellow Viking fans never read up on any of their star players. The Harvin "headache" joke is so stupid.

Harvin was diagnosed with "sleep apnea" (spell check?) in early 2011 and played all 16 games that year. He hasn't had a migraine since. Stop using that "headache" joke, plz

WTF are you telling anyone what to say :wallbang: Numerous times Harvin complained of headaches and if that bothers you for someone to bring it up then tough  The Topic is who would you take Harvin or Patterson :?:

People act like he did it (complained) all the time. Guy was used a ton and was banged up. He was an immediate impact and perhaps just a bit too dangerous for the family-friendly Vikings.

However, I'll take Patterson's size and open field moves any day

" just a bit too dangerous for the family-friendly Vikings". What is that suppose to mean :?:

Whenever any MN sports team has a "dangerous" guy, we run them out of town. Still mad about the Moss trade.

His headaches were a problem: From the Norseman and a neurologist :
"Migraines were cited as the reason for Harvin missing 2 games in college and 3 games in 2009-10 (he missed the Bengals game at the end of the 2009 season and the Bills and Giants-in-Detroit games near the end of 2010). He also missed countless practices, including large chunks of time in training camp. In 2010, he disappeared from camp for a couple of weeks, apparently due to migraines. He'd originally been excused for his grandmother's funeral but did not reappear as expected and the team didn't know where he was. When he did resurface, it turned out he'd been having a flare up of his migraines."

Patterson isn't half as polished a receiver as Harvin, but he's younger, bigger, and doesn't have Harvin's history of either injury or attitude problems. I think the choice is simple.

I will always miss Harvin in the same way I will always miss Moss (my favorite Viking of all time). Two of the most exciting players I have ever had the pleasure to watch every single week. That said, Patterson has already shown he is a big time playmaker, and seems like the better teammate. All things considered, I am happy with the guy we got, but I hope Harvin does well in the future. He is a special talent.

Half as polished? What has Harvin ever done at WR that was special? Catch 2 yard passes turn em into 7 yards? Sheer volume is going to give you 900-1000 and a few TDs, they handed it off to him for some TDs too. Not spilled milk, but I don't see this dynamic special player when I see Harvin. Harvin has one thing on CP84, 4 years experience, I see a better player in CP84, and next year will show that.

If both are healthy then I'm taking Percy every single time. Although, I do think CP has a very high ceiling.

I respect your choice and like I said Havin is a great player. But CP is 4 years younger, Taller, stonger, more reach, no injury history, nearly as fast, and just as elusive.
Just my opinion also.
