I don't have to understand that because it's an assumption. :)

I think it was likely that Patterson and Rhodes were going to see their roles expanded when the coaching staff felt they were ready anyway. If you want to choose to believe that wouldn't have happened, you can choose to believe that but that's what it is: a choice, an assumption.
And it's not easy to play "coach" from home....I've been saying Rhodes and Patterson should have been starters from day 1, I've always said Carlson was paid too much but at the same time, is underutilized, and Cassel should have continued starting after the Cleveland game.
The problem is you're seeing the good performances by players like Rhodes and Patterson as confirmation that you were right and ruling out the possibility that they did, indeed, need the time and seasoning the coaches felt they needed before assuming bigger roles. You're assuming they would have been as successful early on as they were in the latter half of the season but there's nothing to back up that assumption. Maybe the success they eventually had was due, in part, to the coaching and preparation they received. Ditto for Cole. Is that not a possibility?

The only non-loss this year within the NFC North was the tie against the Pukers.

The Vikes are the division doormats.

These are the same guys that didn't see anything wrong 3 games into preseason....hell 1 game into preseason. If it's not obvious CP is our best player now and has been for some time then that's a problem. And to your point CP is just 1 example of many. That's exactly why these coaches will be fired tomorrow. They were not in touch with the talent level of each and every player = underachieving = fired. There are fans that know what it will take to return to greatness and others that know what it takes to be a .500 team. To defend what this staff has done all season is defending mediocrity. These guys are dead men walking.
No offense, but what makes one fan any more knowledgable than another? We are not pros, we are just expressing opinions. Please stop acting like some are absolutely right and others are dead wrong. None of us really know. Few predicted a playoff run last year and a lot went into that, including good coaching. It wasn't just AD having a monster year, that argument gives short shrift to many. I defend this staff for their full body of work, but recognize with two of the past three years being subpar change is likely.
