Merry Christmas to all Vikings fans from me, a fan of the Cincinnati Bengals who lives in SW Ohio. I went to the game in Cincinnati last week and I just want to say how wonderful, polite, friendly, and knowledgeable the Vikings fans at the game were. I admire your loyalty to your team even in the lean years and, as a Bengals fan back in the 1990s, I understand what you're going through right now in Minnesota and it's not fun.
But think about it: If the Bengals can become a perennial playoff team, so can the Vikings! Mike Brown and Marvin Lewis finally cracked the code to success and it starts with defense. Since Mike Zimmer came to town in 2008, the Bengals have made the playoffs four times and had a top ten defense every year.
When Minnesota was a Super Bowl team, what was the focus? Defense! The Purple People Eaters were legit; I remember Alan Page, Carl Eller, Roy Winston, and Paul Krause. Those men could flat out play! If somehow your Front Office realizes this and builds a strong defensive line and goes from there, the sky is the limit. What you saw in Cincinnati was simply a good defense doing its job. Adrian Peterson is a great player! Matt Cassel throws very good passes! It's not like Minnesota has no talent on their roster -- because the Vikings have good players at most positions.
Merry Christmas to all of you who proudly rock the purple and gold. You'll be back.

You'll be there soon enough, Minnesota. You have a nucleus of talent.

Re: Merry Christmas, VMB!
Very Merry Christmas to all! I spent Christmas with a friend this year in New Orleans. It was a new experience going to midnight mass in the French Quarter at the St. Louis Cathedral. It was such a big church, tons of overcrowding...and get this, NO bathrooms! It was a painful service!
Addendum: I went to see Brian Setzer, and the Brian Setzer Orchestra two Sundays ago. It was great, he was great, and I haven't heard the phrase, "Merry Christmas" that much in years. It was nice!
...wisdom through wind, trees, horses, arrows and Christmas!
