What does Wilson have to do with any of this? He wasn't in the same draft as Ponder.tmscr wrote: Just like every GM who passed on Russel Wilson..

At minimum, people stop wanting Cassel to be our starting qb next year.MelanieMFunk wrote: And that gets us...what exactly?

So, fans expecting more and demanding more gets us that?yezzir wrote: A Super Bowl? Deep playoff runs?
I guess fans SUCK then. It's not the Vikings at all; it's the FANS.

Nope..I still want the best QB to play until a better one comes along.Purple Reign wrote: At minimum, people stop wanting Cassel to be our starting qb next year.
Re: King of Cassel
Drafting QBs is a total crapshoot. You're using hindsight. Obviously, people didn't like the Ponder decision when it happened, but was anyone sure Dalton and Kaepernick were going to work? You can't look back 3 years later and say what should have been done. Of course the vikings want a "great" QB. We all do. Let's see you break down the incoming QBs and accurately predict their NFL success. It isn't easy.Purple Reign wrote: What does Wilson have to do with any of this? If he gives us the best chance to win, he should be the starter, should he not?Purple Reign wrote: At minimum, people stop wanting Cassel to be our starting qb next year.
Oh. Maybe we want to play the "QB eval/draft pick" game again? We don't want to play the best players on our roster. I forgot.
If Cassel is the best QB on the roster (not that it is an ideal situation), he should start. I don't agree with not playing our best QB. I saw enough of that this year. For Vikings fans "not demanding enough and being too accepting", not playing our best players is beyond foolish.

Re: King of Cassel
Luckily none of the best players in the NFL ever have bad games. They aren't allowed, even if the entire team/coaches are ineffective...kind of like the Vikes/Carolina game. The Cassel props that started last Monday seem so long ago...

Re: King of Cassel
Yep. Exactly. I'm not so in love with Cassel that I'd want him starting regardless. If he's the best on the roster, play the dude. If not, that's cool, too. Play whoever gives us the best chance to win. That's all. It's really that simple.Webbfann wrote: Nope..I still want the best QB to play until a better one comes along.

Re: King of Cassel
Again, my opinion, but if Cassel is just marginally better than a rookie qb coming in, then I would rather start the rookie to give him some experience so he can be better than Cassel. It's not always black and white to just start your best players, especially at the qb position. Cassel isn't the future for the team and don't think he would lead us to the playoffs next year, so build for the future and give a rookie qb the experience to become a better qb that can take us to the playoffs and be a franchise qb. Of course, that also depends on how much potential the rookie would have. Just speculating.MelanieMFunk wrote: If he gives us the best chance to win, he should be the starter, should he not?

So you are saying the Patriots and the Cowboys should have stuck with Drew Bledsoe?
