There's really no need to compare him to anybody. Is it that hard to just say he played a very good game and leave it at that? It doesn't mean anybody has to change their overall position on the guy.majorm wrote:And STOP! You guys that are raving about Ponder now are comparing him to himself. Okay, so he was better last night than he's been most of this year. Comapred to a top-level QB, he's still ridiculously limited. You shouldn't have to dumb down the offense for your STARTING QB!
He led the offense on 4 TD drives in 6 possessions, led them back into the lead from a two score deficit and was instrumental in keeping the Vikes in that game. That's not raving, that's just what happened. It's what we want the Vikings quarterback to do, isn't it? There's no harm in acknowledging the performance and giving credit where it's due. The next time Ponder plays he might stink up the field again and if he does, there won't be any harm in acknowledging that either.
Discussing Ponder doesn't have to be as polarizing as it's become.
