I forgot to add Stringer in there on the 2001 misery.

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
To me 2010 was probably the most frustrating season I've ever seen. In large part due to the expectations going into the season, but also because of the implosion of both the team and the dome as the season went on. Murphy's law was in full effect in 2010. From Favre struggling most of the season, getting hurt, and his consecutive starts streak coming to an end. To Sydney Rice nursing his injury. To getting blown out by the Packers at home. To Moss insulting a caterer and getting cut by Childress. To Childress getting fired. To the epic dome collapse. To losing some very winnable games in frustrating ways.
We were absolutely flat in a 14-9 loss vs the Saints in the opener. Defense held Brees to 14 points, very winnable game. Week 2 we had 4th and goal at the 1, vs Miami, late in the game, down by 4, at the dome, and AD was denied at the goal line. Favre's pick 6 vs the Jets in the final 2 minutes when we were only down by 2.
And possibly the single most frustrating game I've ever watched at Lambeau. Harvin had 2 TD's taken away by review, and Shiancoe another TD taken away by review, and then the Packers getting a TD that wasn't a TD because the refs blew it and Chilly didn't challenge. A 4 TD swing on reviews alone. Favre throwing 3 picks including a pick 6 when we were only down 4 in the 3rd quarter. And then another pick in the 4th quarter deep in Packer territory trailing by 4. The penalty self destruction on the games final drive. To put it into perspective, Favre was 3 of 7 for 54 yards between Green Bays 48 and 20 yard line. 54 actual yards of passing in just 28 yards of field. Harvins GW TD (rightfully) being taken away by review with under a minute to go. Moss aligator arming a potential GW TD on 4th down with 30 seconds to go.
Moss quitting on another potential easy TD pass at New England. Ugly losses vs the Giants in a home game at Ford Field. Getting destroyed by the Bears at TCF field with Webb throwing wounded ducks all over the place.
Not the worst season in terms of wins and losses (6-10) but certainly one of the most frustrating seasons I've ever watched.
2013 is quickly creeping up the most frustrating list if not the worst season ever list. Thank goodness we already got a win or I'd be sick to my stomach worried about joining Detroit as the only team in NFL history to go 0-16.

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
At 1-7 the Vikings are now in uncharted waters. It ties the team record for worst record through 8 games, and we were an expansion team then. Worse than Steckel, worse than 2011 Frazier.

So you're saying we're "off-the-charts" bad. OK... I'm hearing you.Reignman wrote:At 1-7 the Vikings are now in uncharted waters.

I've told people a million times not to exaggerate!
Re: Worst Vikings Teams
And a short week to set the franchise record

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
i know this won't be a popular statement at the moment, but the vikings have now lost 3 games with the final score coming with less than 90 seconds left. of course we've had 3 or 4 total duds as well, but this team could easily have 3 wins, if that counts for anything

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
With our luck, we beat the Skins again, and lose a draft spot lol.

And you're not kidding. The Vikings have never started 1-8.S197 wrote:And a short week to set the franchise record

Looks like Loadholt is highly unlikely to play, not enough time to pass concussion tests. Frazier as usual has named Ponder starter but will "review tape."

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
This is the worst Vikings team ever. Fire Fraizer, make a point, and put Singletary in charge. Then can his a$$ and rebuild. How can the Wilfs fire Tice like they did, and Childress, and Fraizer is still here? hes on pace to break his own record as the worst HC ever.

The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." #SKOL2018

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
Oh yes. It's fun to see info about the Cowboys 90-yard drive to win the game on the bottom of the screen on SNF. That is followed up by the Vikings being 1-7 for the first time in 52 years. All this after a playoff season. Ha. Yes! Let the world see how bad we are for the 3rd week in a row on primetime. Yeeessss!
Now a Thursday night game coming? Oh boy. Hopefully we manage to play with the same passion we had today. I think the home crowd deserves to see a little fight--or a lot!

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
Sadly, it doesn't. I may be remembering incorrectly but in the Chicago, Cleveland and Dallas game, didn't the winning score come in the last minute? I was thinking the Vikings had the lead with a minute to go in all three. If it was with a minute and a half to go, I'll feel so much better.tmscr wrote:i know this won't be a popular statement at the moment, but the vikings have now lost 3 games with the final score coming with less than 90 seconds left. of course we've had 3 or 4 total duds as well, but this team could easily have 3 wins, if that counts for anything
What is even sadder is I just couldn't decide what to root for yesterday. When they were ahead late, I was kind of thinking, "come on guys, win one." But then I was thinking, "come on guys, don't screw up a high draft pick."

Re: Worst Vikings Teams
My thought was, if we could go back in time, let's drop two more games and suck for Luck in 2011. I think the Vikes would be at .500 with a QB who could pick up a critical 3rd down late in the game. So if the Vikes end up with 1 win this year, and a superbowl quality QB, I'm all for it.
But I still wanted them to win in my heart during that last drive.
Lastly, we may be fielding the worst team, but the injuries are just devastating. We've lost our four best defensive backs. Star RB with a hammy. Pro Bowl MVP tight end with a foot injury. Right tackle with a concussion. Broken ribs and concussions for the QB's.
Again, a QB like Andrew Luck and some injury luck has us competing for the playoffs even with this defense. I think the Packers went 15-1 with a historically bad defense - it can be done.
