We've given up... right?
Is it safe to say that we (vikings nation) has mostly given up on the season? I don't see any reason to hope for a winning streak that would make up for our slow start. We are potentially starting a QB that was cut from another team, so basically somebody's lost cause is our new hope. Not a great sign most of the time. Is there anybody who has not given up on this season?

A winning streak for what? Everybody else in the division has 4 wins right now.
What is "best case scenario" on a winning streak that doesn't have us lifting the Lombardi Trophy?
What happened last year? 10-6 and drop a Wild Card game by 2 or 3 touchdowns?
Draft 22nd instead of 5th?

I'm not hoping for playoffs...but as far as making progress goes, the sooner our rookie LBs get on the field the better. Also would like to see what they can do to make CP84 a bigger part of the offense.
It will be interesting to see if Freeman can put anything together.
All of it depends of the reality of the coaching staffs security or lack thereof. If they think they have to win to save their jobs, I doubt I get my wishes.
Either way it will one of the more intriguing losing seasons I can remember.

If Freeman leads us to wins in the remaining games we might have a shot. Not likely. But we will win enough to take us out of the running for a good QB.

I haven't given up. They're 1-4, not 1-8. I don't have high hopes for a playoff appearance but I haven't thrown in the towel. If they can start winning the close games instead of losing them, things could get interesting.
If they follow up last week's embarrassing performance with another one tomorrow night then I think the wheels could come off quickly but I don't think this is a lost season yet.

This is a much better post then mine lol. Partially because I don't think the vikes could coach a QB like Teddy, and partially the 1 win we got this year was so dam exciting. Its hard to get used to the thought of wanting your vikes to lose.Mothman wrote:I haven't given up. They're 1-4, not 1-8. I just don't see any good reason to want that at this point.PurpleKoolaid wrote:This is a much better post then mine lol. If the Vikes had just played slightly better against Cleveland and Chicago and won those games instead of blowing them in the final minute, they'd be competing for a share of first place in the division tomorrow (assuming GB holds on and beats Cleveland to go 4-2). That's how slim the margin between success and failure has been for the Vikings this year. With 2/3 of the season ahead of them, they still have a chance to make something of their season. They have some serious problems to address so as I said, my expectations are low but it's too early to give up on the season.

Some people still think Ponder has a future in this league...so hey whatever floats your boat. Super bowl here we come!

Don't look at me to back the idea that we should "give up" on any season (especially this early). I'm always of the belief that as long as you're still alive for a playoff spot, there's reason to be cheering. If y'all wanna give up on the season, go for it...just don't expect me to converse with you about tanking games for a better draft pick. I always hated that mentality.
Just enjoy the game of football because it'll be the offseason before you know it, and you'll all be missing the game.

I have given up. That said, I am still going to watch every game and hope they win. Heck, I even have tickets to two games this year and cannot wait to go!
This is 2011 all over again except with more offensive display (take that anyway you want to interpret it hahaha). This team really has sucked this year. I cannot even begin to wonder how many yards Aaron Rodgers will put up against us this year. The ceiling for this team is 5-11.

Re: We've given up... right?
I'm not hoping for them to lose...but I am trying to remain realistic about their defense. They face a lot of good QBs from here on out and with Smith hurt things look worse.
I'm tossing out their record and looking for trends and specific players that we can build on going forward.
I suppose the coaching staff has to view every game as must win until they're eliminated...which is what you want. But the whole state of the defense makes me feel like I'm rooting for a Toyota Camry to win the Indy 500.
It will really be something if Freeman tears it up in a few weeks so they can go defense in the draft......but getting those draft picks on the field and fluent to the scheme is another thing. ugh ~
