No doubt. If there's any dude who is usually on the money it's Tommy boy. I am so tired of the scraps left from the Childress area. There's talent on any given NFL team and we have a nice handful of them. Get a new system in here next year please

Pelissero: Matter of when, not if, coach Leslie Frazier...
Pull yr 84 jerseys out.
Re: Pelissero: Matter of when, not if, coach Leslie Frazier.
I liked this part:
— Kansas City Chiefs players continue to cite the coaching staff as a huge factor in their 6-0 start. And it's not just head coach Andy Reid, who has brought stability to a program that went to hell and back in 2012. Look no further than the secondary, where there's a nice mix of experience (33-year NFL coaching veteran Emmitt Thomas) and youth (first-year coach Al Harris, who retired after the 2011 season). They have players' ears, and that goes a long way.

Okay, but Vikings players were saying the same kind of stuff about Frazier last year so where does that leave us?psjordan wrote:I liked this part:

That is two examples of a coaching change bringing about winning ways (in the short term) SF went from marginal performances under Singletary to being the league darling under Harbaugh. Two straight years with a week 1 bye in the playoffs. KC was one of the basement dwelling teams in the league last year, bring in Andy Reid and now they are in the middle of at least the start of a cinderella type season.
Hard to argue coaching can't have an impact given these two instance.
However, the question, IMO, is why one would think the Vikings could or could not experience a big change iwth better coaching. I admit my hating on the coaches today is mostly based on the argument of "it can't get much worse". So perhaps the more sober question is "Why could it get better"?

Well, it kinda leaves us with a 17-26 career HC and them with a 136-93 career HC.Mothman wrote:Okay, but Vikings players were saying the same kind of stuff about Frazier last year so where does that leave us?
General principles say that out of of a 17-26 record, we caught a real lucky streak going 4-2 in our first six last year. Leaves us with an anomaly I guess.

Oh I don't think for an instant that KC has "arrived" now that they have Reid. Realistically I still see disappointment in their future. But Reid gives them a fighter's chance I think.mansquatch wrote:That is two examples of a coaching change bringing about winning ways (in the short term) SF went from marginal performances under Singletary to being the league darling under Harbaugh. As to the other question, change for change's sake is not going to work here. That is how Frazier took over from Chilly IMO. If, and it is a huge if, this team takes it upon themselves to determine without a doubt they want to start a clean slate, then diligently outline the attributes and experience they want from a HC, then study what coaching talent is out there and (hopefully) catch a break in getting the right staff, well then, it will most certainly get better. No question in my mind.
No sense changing until you can meet that criteria, unless of course the organization feels Frazier has completely lost the players. Until that point I would certainly not favor an in-season change.

I did say KC was at the "start" of a good season. I'm not sold on them either, but hard to argue that Reid hasn't at least made things better for them. The Harbaugh example is the most dramatic of course.
I'm not sure it is "change for the sake of change." We are a basement team right now with serious issues on pass defense in a passing league. The results point to something not working. So IMO it would be change to address said challenges. Regarldess, the bigger question is who to hire next. I'd like to see them get away from the play it safe sort of hire and try to find the next big thing.

Yeah I just think it is next to impossible to do that mid-season, barring a player revolt.mansquatch wrote:I'm not sure it is "change for the sake of change." As I said in another post : You fire him now so in the unlikely event we do show some life and end up 8-8 or 7-9 and we end the season strong he does not get another year.
