From Kluwe via twitter (take it how you will):

There is plenty of blame/shame to go around on defense.
Most of which needs to go on the front office...

That's because Ponder was anointed the starter before the season started. They weren't even confident he could beat Matt Cassel in an open competition.

Not quite. Sunday was his 64th career start. Ponder has 29. But keep striving for mediocre, Ponder might get there someday. I just hope it's with a different team. Cassel is by far the better QB right now, but nobody is saying he's the future.

I don't remember their exact ranking, but yes they had a good pass defense and a top defense overall. They held Locker and the Titans to 125 yards passing and 229 total. Dalton and the Bengals managed to put up 280 passing and 407 total, and then they held Cutler and the Bears to 159 passing and 258 total. They're no slouch. We put up 248 passing and 393 total. The Steelers problem is they haven't managed to get a single takeaway all season.

Ponder might get there someday.
No, he won't.

Just like TJoke wouldn't despite all the well wishing.

They are below average to bad quarterbacks who will never be anything else.

Fair enough and I respect your opinion, which by the way, I some what agree with. I still feel as though he will have a good career in the NFL BUT not necessarily as a Viking. I watched Gannon's career and Brad Johnsons and they both were "dismissed by the team and fans and ended up being Super Bowl QBs. Neither were by any means great but were both good. That is were I would imagine (in my opinion) Ponder will end up as being good. He has flashed his upside many times and also his bad side. If his time as a Viking is ended then he will move on and hopefully be succeesful. It appears as though he did not get the two full seasons that I had hoped for but that is how it goes. He is a very good athelete with all of the tools to "make it" but he will need more time to develop and that, to me, is obvious. It will almost be worth it to me not to hear and read all of the crap that has written and said about him if he does get traded or benched. It will not take long for the usuall cynics to be dogging every thing wrong that Cassel does, believe you me and I assure you it will happen. I am a big FSU fan and will always be pulling for him.
And oh by the way I will be pulling for Cassel and/or any QB or player that is wearing the purple.
I responded to you above but the text didn't show up cause I only have a half smart phone.

I'm not convinced either way about Christian. He could be a long time backup, he could start down the road or he could be out of the league in a couple of years. IMO it depends on his true passion for really wanting to play and win.

It wouldn't bother me if he was the #2 guy in Minny for a few years...but I don't know how the details of that work.

It's a long season and I really am dubious that Matt can remain healthy the whole way...so, it's quite possible CP will get another chance this year if he is being benched now.

I was stoked when they signed Cassel. I thought he was the perfect guy for our backup slot due to his skillset matching up very well with what we seem to have on offense. I was not wanting to see him play cause I wanted our draft pick to pan out.

lots could still happen of course.

They don't need a bone. They have a pretend bone they gnaw on whenever they need to. You can only see it with special purple glasses though.

I wish I had the photoshop ability to change a few "they live" signs into "Ponder will improve" "Ponder will mature" "The Vikings front office knows what they're doing".

Browns aren't as bad as most thought...Thankfully.

Vikings still shouldn't have lost that game, but Cleveland is a tougha and scrappy bunch. Especially on D.

Lol. Thank god I didn't bend over back wards touting Ponder (last year's Arizona games sealed for me) like I did Tarvaris Jackson. I think most of you guys who have been on this board for a long time remember how adamant I was in my defense of Tarvaris. To this day I still would welcome Tarvaris Jackson on the roster... just not as the starter. :)
