It's Cassel. Undoubtedly. If the coaches are serious about still trying to salvage this season then it's Cassel.

Vikes can back in this thing, man. Ponder can't check out though and needs to try and learn and improve because he's an injury way from being right back in there.

The only reason anyone would vote for Ponder is if they want us to tank for teddy yet. With The Lions in the lead of the division, and the Oline responding to a real QB, nothing is really over yet. Well it is if the coaches don't get their act together, and the D stops bending (and breaking).

The only way Ponder sees the field again is if Cassell really stinks it's up a couple games or gets hurt. The whole team was different today. I am not saying the first 3 games were all on Ponder, but my god this team looked totally different today just because of the quarterback switch.

Vote is 20-0 in favor of Cassell btw. Lol.
That was my thought too, the team seemed to be playing with new found energy. Maybe because Felton was back? Maybe it was the change of scenery? Could've been Cassel.

Cassel SHOULD start. But the real question is "who WILL start". However, if we're realistic with ourselves, we all know who will start and it won't be who should.

Looking at the poll results, I see that Ponder, Samantha and Frazier all came and cast a vote :point:

Cassel was actually under a bad coach in KC. Ponder is NOT progressing. If we want to win now and make a playoff push, Cassel is a no-brainer.
A successful coach needs a patient wife, loyal dog, and great quarterback - and not necessarily in that order.

The day Cassel became a Viking I wanted him to start. I, a few members, believed a new team, system, start, whatever, could invigorate a quarterback who had proven he could string wins together. Let's hope he continues to string, despite Frazier's assurances and threats!!!!

You are a tough audience. I think you have to say that a QB rating for a game better than any QB in history has had for a season should be considered an elite performance. Yes, it's just a one game rating, but the numbers speak for themselves.

Cassel.

I couldn't watch the game as intently as I had hoped(working + watching the game = bad idea), but from what I saw Cassel made much better throws in terms of technique(velocity, zip, etc) but he is also capable of making quite bad decisions. But he has much better throwing talent than Ponder and that is something we need.

You should all be aware

that my 1 vote for Ponder significantly skewed the results.

I have no doubt Cassell will have some bad moments. He's NOT a great QB by any stretch, but can be pretty good when given some time. He is so much better than Ponder there just should be no debate. I mean at least Cassell can consistently hit open receivers in stride when he can set his feet. Ponder can't even do that with any regularity. Every single pass Ponder throws is an adventure.

There is NO reason for Ponder to take a meaningful snap again this season. If Cassell reverts back to 2012 Cassell or gets hurt, THEN it's time to go with MBT. Who knows, maybe he'll actually show something that would lead to him being kept as a backup. At worst, we'll get a better draft pick. We've seen all we need to see from Ponder.

I do truly feel bad for Ponder because he seems like such a good guy with a lot of class and I think we all have rooted for him to succeed. But, it's just become very apparent that he just doesn't possess the skillset necessary to be an NFL QB.

We all knew this was coming didn't we. I live in the KC area and have taken so much grief since the Vikings signed Cassell. And I KNEW he would end up being the Vikings's starter at some point this season.

I think our boy Dilfer's assessment was spot on. Ponder looks great in T-shirt and shorts but when the bullets start flying, he just can't get it done.

Cassell with potential to suck? Yes. Worse than Ponder? No.
