Full story: http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nf ... n/2869439/Reigning MVP Adrian Peterson says all his goals this season remain within reach, both for himself and the Minnesota Vikings.
But if there was any doubt about how hard opponents will be working to stop him all season, Detroit Lions coach Jim Schwartz erased it after the Sept. 8 opener, in which Peterson scored a 78-yard touchdown on his first carry — and 15 yards total on the next 17.
"The head coach came up to me and was like, 'We've been game-planning for you for a month, and the first play, you broke it for 78 yards,' " Peterson told USA TODAY Sports on Wednesday.
"(Bleep.) A month y'all been game-planning to stop the run? (Bleep.) Y'all better do a good job. (Bleep.) That's what we're facing. Guys are coming in, and they know our run game. They're doing everything they can to stop it. It's not easy."

http://www.1500espn.com/sportswire/Kram ... play092613Tarvaris Jackson, Donovan McNabb and Ponder have all tried and failed with the best running back in football. Forty-year-old Brett Favre's stunning run in 2009, in which Peterson had to break the 100-yard mark just three times, only underscores the point that running backs have less influence on a team's win-loss column than ever before.
The Cleveland Browns certainly noticed that last week before trading the 2012 third-overall pick, Trent Richardson, and then beating the Vikings with third-string quarterback Brian Hoyer, who dropped back 57 times and threw for 321 yards and three touchdowns in his second career start.
As the top dog in the running back game, Peterson said he doesn't think Richardson being traded so early in the season means his position is less valued.
"Nah, not really. Can't say that. I really don't know what to take from it, it happened so suddenly and you don't know the reasons behind it," Peterson said. "I don't know, I guess it works best for them."

besides the fact that Petersan as the lone setback looks like the morning star about to be drawn forth from the sheath, or like a serpent which will not be charmed, i think any able-bodied qb can suffice so long as the hand-offs are not botched. if i could command any more perfection, not being superstitious, but if a to the p is cursing, the vikes are not going to skip the gutter.dead_poet wrote:
