One thing I'll say ...

Josh Gordon is an impressive receiver. He's big and fast and agile, and he can get separation. He was just warming up, and I was saying, "Oh oh. This guy is really good."

Brian Hoyer may be third-string, but Josh Gordon is anything but. Sherels was matched up with Gordon for most of the second half, and Sherels won the battle more than he lost.

Don't get me wrong. I don't begin to think Marcus Sherels is the second coming of Deion Sanders. But he showed more than any other corner has this season. Too bad that's not saying much.

Yeah, he looked good in preseason, have him on a couple fantasy teams as well. If Sherels shut him down that's pretty impressive, let's see if he can do it two weeks in a row.

Brian Hoyer may be third-string, but Josh Gordon is anything but.

You can see why Brian Hoyer is a backup. He doesn't see the defense and doesn't make the best decisions. But damn... he made a lot of very accurate throws and he has a good arm.

It seems like everyone we draft is a bust, as far as DBs go. I think it is a coaching thing. Seriously.. When was the last time we drafted a db worth his salt? And I am only cautiously optimistic about Harrison Smith at this point...

I don't disagree. However I think the results would be a bit different had Gordon not been in his first game action off suspension and had some actual practice time with Hoyer. In my eyes, Gordon is a vastly superior WR than Sherels is a DB. Granted, I'm still sour on him after repeated burnings in years' past. He needs to justify that his performance wasn't due to the above factors. I'd actually like to see all passes thrown at him to see if it was his coverage that prevented the majority of the completions or simply bad throws. Maybe someone with Game Rewind can take another look. Apologies for my skepticism.

That said, I'd still prefer Sherels to Robinson. He couldn't be any worse.

I think it's about time to quit this nonsense and have Rhodes be a full-time starter. According to PFF, he's allowed just 7-of-13 balls into his coverage at 6.6 yards per catch. It's past time to throw him into the fire.

In most cases, it was coverage. When they completed a pass against him, he was quick to make the tackle. The guy simply did a good job on Sunday.

I agree. They should bring Robinson ( or someone else) in to the play the slot in nickel situations and play Rhodes on the left side full time.
