rhodes, floyd, and patterson
was this year's first round really as good as it was hyped up to be? i understand there really isn't anyone to get patterson the ball, and floyd was hurt in the preseason, but where have these guys been? we traded 3 picks for patterson and they throw to him once or twice a game.

Since when have high draft picks equaled guaranteed success? Just look at our own Ponder for proof of that. For all we know, all 3 could end up being busts. I certainly hope not, but I've seen nothing except the occasional spark from Patterson. Harvin was already much further along at this point than Patterson however. So that's a little worrying.

They are rookies. They may be talented rookies, but it takes a lot more than pure talent to be successful in the NFL.mosscarter wrote:was this year's first round really as good as it was hyped up to be? i understand there really isn't anyone to get patterson the ball, and floyd was hurt in the preseason, but where have these guys been? we traded 3 picks for patterson and they throw to him once or twice a game.
Give them some time to mature. I think all three will turn out to be worth their 1st round picks.

Not looking great right now, but it's too early to tell.mosscarter wrote:was this year's first round really as good as it was hyped up to be? i understand there really isn't anyone to get patterson the ball, and floyd was hurt in the preseason, but where have these guys been? we traded 3 picks for patterson and they throw to him once or twice a game.
Patterson is no Percy Harvin, not by a long shot. But he still has a lot of talent and a lot of room to grow.
Rhodes could be OK. He's looking more like a good 2nd or 3rd round CB right now, though.
Floyd I'm not so sure about. He could turn out to be a giant waste of a 1st round pick.

Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
0-3 so there is absolutely no reason not to turn these guys all into full Time starters now. Let them develop because there is no way we even get close to sniffing the playoffs now.
Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
Ridiculous thread IMO. 3 games in and you're wondering if rookies are any good. Please.
Still, the skill sets are similar.
Even this isn't necessarily true. He could be Harvin-esque. Though he is much more raw than Percy was as a rookie, I'll grant you that.Eli wrote:Patterson is no Percy Harvin, not by a long shot. But he still has a lot of talent and a lot of room to grow.

Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
Floyd made the tip on the Henderson interception IIRC.Purplemania wrote:Rhodes has been solid when given the chance. I think he's gonna be a stud. Patterson needs more touches, but I like what I see so far. I think once the idiot coaches realizes how good this guy is and gives him a chance, he'll be worth beyond where he was selected. Floyd I'm not so sure about. Haven't seen him make any plays this year.
Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
There is every reason. The team is done. Can't do anything. They aren't going to get better sitting on the sideline. Now is when you get them snaps.NDVikeFan wrote:0-3 so there is absolutely no reason not to turn these guys all into full Time starters now. Patterson has looked good when given the chance. Which he isn't being given. You hear "You can't take Simpson and Jennings off the field!" fine. Take Zach freakin' Line off the field. Take John freakin' Carlson off the field.
None of these guys are being given much time so it's hard to even tell. Floyd seems to do his job when given a chance. Patterson made a nice catch when he was thrown to (underthrown by that noodle arm bum). Rhodes had a couple nice covers last game. It's going to take time, and faith from the coaching staff.
Maybe they don't look that good in practice?

Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
Ditto! No need to panic at all!admvp wrote:Ridiculous thread IMO. 3 games in and you're wondering if rookies are any good. Please.
Rhodes has made several nice plays so far. Yes he's rough and still needs polishing and he needs to play to develop.
Same with Patterson, although he's even rougher, he needs time to develop, but the ceiling seems sky high!
Floyd seems okay, to be honest I haven't paid as much attention to him as the other two, so I'll refrain from any kind of judgement, but I will say that he needs snaps.

Did you misread my post. I said they should be playing! Not sure as you quoted me than agreed with me. But like I said they should all be full time starters now!Demi wrote: There is every reason. Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
Oh ok was just wondering. Watching Sunday Ticket, listening to Kfan and posting here, while being pissed at the loss gets me confused at times.

Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
Talent-wise I do not think we are the worst in the league and IMO should be fighting for a playoff position. However coaching-wise, we are the worst
Every day the same thing, variety
Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
Did'nt you hear Fraziers explanation of the lack of plays with Patterson in the Chicago game and how they were going to get him more involved this week.........Opps, he may have forgot that he said thatmosscarter wrote:was this year's first round really as good as it was hyped up to be? i understand there really isn't anyone to get patterson the ball, and floyd was hurt in the preseason, but where have these guys been? we traded 3 picks for patterson and they throw to him once or twice a game.
Re: rhodes, floyd, and patterson
I think all 3 picks will probably be pretty decent starters down the road and perhaps even prowbowlers.
Patterson has been a difference maker when he gets to be on the field. Problem is we run more plays with zach line / John Carlson and that's just sad.
Floyd just happens to be behind one of the top 10 greatest 3 technique DT's, he'll get his chance as well.
Rhodes' game isn't really meant for our cover 2 defense so he's got the most to learn and figure out. We'll see if he can do that but he's obviously got all the physical ability necessary to pull it off or we wouldn't have drafted him.
