I'm guessing we'll see Campbell start for the browns this week.Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden's thumb is only sprained.
Cleveland's offense is broken, and in need of quick repair.
Weeden injured his thumb in the fourth quarter of Sunday's 14-6 loss at Baltimore and probably will miss this week's game when the Browns (0-2) visit Minnesota.
Coach Rob Chudzinski said the team will wait and see how Weeden's injury responds over the next few days, but he seemed to be leaning toward starting either backup Jason Campbell or third-stringer Brian Hoyer.
Campbell filled in for one series -- he went 1 of 4 for 6 yards -- after Weeden got hurt when he smacked his hand on a helmet after throwing a pass.
However, Chudzinski said he will consider starting Hoyer, who has been No. 3 on Cleveland's depth chart since the start of training camp, against the Vikings.
"I'm going to keep all of our options open," Chudzinski said, perhaps to keep the Vikings guessing.

We need a good game. It won't be a walk in the Park on offense. Defense can't let Jason Campbell beat them. Peterson nees to gain some ground this week if he is going for 2500!!

Pressure + covering Gordon and (gulp) Cameron and we're fine.

Re: Vikings/Browns talk
I would love to predict a Vikes win and an impressive game for us all around. I can't. I've seen this movie too many times and Lucy always pulls that freaking ball away. My gut tells me we will win but it will be ugly (which I will take of course).
But I am annually exhausted by the "hey, a win is a win" mantra after those games, since that "win is a win" game never seems to amount to much beyond heartache for this franchise.
I am assuming whomever (whoever? whichever? whatever?) starts at QB for the Browns will look good against our D for an infuriating portion of the game. But we WILL find a way to win, and hey, "that's a start".
How's that for a post from a battle-weary, tail-draggin' Vikes fan? I feel like I should be wearing a bloody bandana and playing in the Fife and Drum corps.

Re: Vikings/Browns talk
This is exactly the kind of scenario that worries me.
A nobody QB steps up and burns us. It's happened before. The only things going for us is that the game is at home (finally) and the Browns' offense is so horrible. However, they do get Josh Gordon back from suspension, and he is exactly the kind of big-body receiver that gives the Vikes fits.
This game worries me a little.

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.
Re: Vikings/Browns talk
We are a better team overall than the browns on paper..
The browns have improved from two years ago IMO.
If we don't play better this could be an 0-3 start for us IMO

Re: Vikings/Browns talk
A couple of notes on the Browns:
- One of the best rush defenses in the league
- One of the better cornerbacks in the league
- Have struggled on offense, but could be due in large part to Weeden. If Weeden doesn't start, Campbell could throw a real wrench into things for a Viking defense that has yet to find it's footing.
I don't expect AD to come untracked in this game, but hopefully Ponder can build off that 2nd half performance. If he can I think the Vikes should win barring major turnover problems or special teams plays that go against them.

Bush and Forte have both had big games against the Vikings. Containing Richardson is an even bigger must than usual.

Thankfully he's not been used much out of the backfield. That'll probably change.S197 wrote:Bush and Forte have both had big games against the Vikings. Containing Richardson is an even bigger must than usual.

Re: Vikings/Browns talk
Yeah he's been a huge bust fantasy wise, feel bad for his takers. 105 yards 0 TD's in 2 games, he's also not the fast / shifty / pass catching type that drives our LB core crazy. It won't be a blow out but we'll win comfortably, 27-17.justinkendle wrote: Richardson is overrated the vikings will get a break for once

This game worries me too. I think opposing teams now know the Vikings have some big time gaps, including slow LBs, inexperience in the D secondary, an unsure QB, and an offensive line that plays hit and miss football on its best day. Any NFL team can probably take advantage of those weaknesses.J. Kapp 11 wrote:This is exactly the kind of scenario that worries me.

Re: Vikings/Browns talk
Which reminds me... How often did the Bears blitz last week? They were getting pressure on the QB rushing four in the 1st half, but didn't get a lot of pressure in the 2nd half. Did they blitz at all, or did they miss that opportunity?losperros wrote:This game worries me too.
