I wouldn't be to sure about that. I bet when the line comes out it wont be more than 3 on either side and quite possibly in favor of Cleveland. To quote the "common man" we are a terrible team in a terrible town with terrible coaches ect ect ect

Frazier is a "nice guy and gentleman" but that counts for NOTHING in the NFL....
His offense is aweful. His QB development is non-existant, the players frequently have as flat an affect as Frazier. The Vikes are going nowhere but down. As usual, the Vikes are just a training ground for wannabe coaches. We havent had a top-shelf Head Coach since Bud Grant and that is pitiful.

Jerry Burns and Dennis Green had measurable success. Grant was HOF, not so easy to get that. Even Mike Tice turned them around and won a playoff game.

Frazier doesn't call plays, coach the offense, or the quarterback. Nor did he pick him. Can hardly blame him for that mess.

And the defense has suffered for years while they tried to fix the offense. I sure don't miss the Childress red flag or time out blunders. It hasn't been anywhere near as bad since Frazier took over. If anyone is to blame for this offense and quarterback it's Spielman, who hired and drafted the people behind it...

And we're not even good at that. Green is the only HC that got another HC job after being our HC. Every HC we've had since the 80's, we were their first and last gig, except Green, but he was hired by the Cardinals so that almost doesn't even count. I can't figure out why we haven't been to a bowl in 35 years.

No moral victories, but we did better than I expected.

Let's be real though, we're a 7-9 or 8-8 team. Ponder will keep us stuck in mediocrity.
The difference between men is not lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

I agree with those who said they looked their best of the season in the second half. Ponder seems to be getting his timing down with his WRs....it's too bad he is so skittish and clueless about how to work the pocket.
It's not a superbowl team by any stretch. Hopefully that was a given before the season started....it was for me at least. There are a lot of holes to fill even before looking at QB, and I would hope they draft another QB as well.

No such thing as a moral victory. Who was the last 0-2 team to make the playoffs? Vikings in 2008. It does not happen often.

That's the spirit, Demi! :P

They better...otherwise it's gonna be an ugly crowd for the home opener. I'm gonna be there and I'm fully expecting to hear people calling for Cassel if Ponder falters at all. The coaching staff is surely in full blown panic mode now so they're gonna do whatever it takes it secure a win. We'll probably see the offense get more creative and Patterson could get more involved. I HOPE that's the case, anyway.

The last time I put money on the Vikings was the Viking-Oakland Super Bowl. Not a dime since then.

And no I don't care about what the teams records were under Childress. They won in spite of him and he cost them more games than he won for them.
Yeah have a nice guy coaching makes up for never getting to a championship game every time. Simplistic FraizerIs going to lose his job faster think Childress if he doesn't shape up. His 3-13 record is more what hes capable of then the fluke last year with AD carrying the entire team.

Childress must have faded in some of your memories... he was even more stubborn and conceited than Denny Green, but far less competent. Frazier & Co. are a major upgrade.

That being said, Frazier & Co. did screw the pooch by not being more aggressive in the red zone. We needed a TD to put the game away and we played for a FG. I think we would all rather lose being aggressive than being wussy, any day. We lost being wussy against the Bears. Hopefully Frazier swallows this bitter pill and learns from it.

Denny Green was a failure. He had great talent but HE panics in every playoff game. EVERY time the team got in the redzone HE called an endless string of runs up the middle. Nothing but pounding the ball. It was Predictable, it was useless, and it led to a total waste of some great teams. He then went to the coach graveyard called Arizona, then was promptly flushed from the NFL....
