Quotes from twitter verse

Post by CalVike »

@ChrisWarcraft: Special teams has to know to take a knee immediately on a squib kick there. 10 seconds gives you time for one play.

@seankjensen: The #Vikings are not just 0-2. There's the added pain of two NFC North losses. Also, the Browns played the Ravens tough in Baltimore.

@TomPelissero: #Bears lost three one-score games in a row late last season, costing them playoffs. Huge for them to start this way. And they're scoring.

@seankjensen: Christian Ponder: "It was close. If we score 7 instead of 3..."

@seankjensen: Christian Ponder: "We didn't change anything (at halftime)... We weren't playing well enough. We understood we had to play better."

@seankjensen: Ponder on his pick: "We'll have to see in film exactly what happened. I could have thrown it more outside. I can't speak to it yet."

@seankjensen: Kevin Williams said he came out of the game fine, with 40 plus plays. The coaches trusted him to determine his play time. #Vikings

@seankjensen: Christian Ponder: "We played our butts off, and we're going to get better."

@seankjensen: Ponder: "All our goals are still within reach. We have 14 more games. We understand we're a good team. I can confidence in all our leaders."

@chipscoggins: Just leaving Vikings locker room. Erin Henderson said he was surprised by play call on final play. Some unhappy defensive players

@chipscoggins: Henderson didn't point finger at coaches. Said players still have to make plays regardless of call

@chipscoggins: It was weird vibe in locker room trying to figure out what happened. Chris Cook declined comment several times. Was clearly upset

@TomPelissero: Down mood in #Vikings locker room. Players talking about the 2008 rally from 0-2, but sensed the issues weren't all execution today.

@TomPelissero: #Bears CB Charles Tillman: "My respect level has gone up tremendously for (Christian) Ponder. He did some great things out there."

@VikingsNow: Chris Cook to team PR Tom West: "I told you I’m not talking to (media). They’re going to have to fine me. I don’t have nothin’ to say."

@TomPelissero: Tillman on #Vikings: "They are a playoff team. It was pound-for-pound, blow-for-blow, a heavyweight battle."

@VikingsNow: Leslie Frazier would not elaborate but took full blame for "not guiding our team" on Bears winning drive, where confusion reigned on Vikings

@VikingsNow: Frazier: "There were some things I didn’t do in my role that could have helped our football team. I've got to do some things better."

@VikingsNow: More Frazier: "There’s some things we could have done different, strategically, and that’s my fault."

@TomPelissero: #Vikings RB Adrian Peterson on his key fumble: "That was a giveaway from my point of view. You can’t do that. I can’t. I can’t do that."

@TomPelissero: Peterson said the call on third-and-goal was "35 Bob." The #Bears "did a great job defensively of making a stop."

@TomPelissero: Think they'd have scored on 4th? AP: "Yeah. That’s the mindset we would have had going for it on fourth down. But we just do what’s called."

@VikingsNow: S Harrison Smith late helping Chris Cook on Bennett TD: "I think I ended up putting him in a bad spot. I’m putting it on me."

Does anyone else think of the phrase "broken record" when you read any of the Ponder or Frazier stuff?

Really, what do you expect? Personally, I find post game pressers to be nothing but the media hoping someone completely loses their mind. I like the fact that Frazier and Ponder don't give them anything to turn into a viral video.

You'll like this one ...

@TomPelissero: Frazier on Ponder: "I'm really proud of the way he bounced back and played down the stretch for us. ... He did a great job."

With Ponder there is always "just enough" to keep him entrenched as the starter.

Would it be too much to ask Ponder to do it all 4 quarters next week? If he does, maybe more people would agree with Frazier on this subject.

Agree. Coaches film is probably the best way to make an honest judgment. I have it, but lack time and ability to do the leg work. It sounds like there's plenty to see again this week.

This isn't a superbowl caliber team with Cassell so I'm fine if Ponder gets the time to show us he can (or more likely can't) do it for 4 quarters (#### we should be going for multiple GAMES heh)

Ponder had no place to go but up. Hes done this since he got here. He goes down even fast. And his pick 6 was typical Ponder and cost us the game.

I haven't looked into the game thread....but I have to imagine there was a bunch of 'WTF?s' when Carlson took off running with that kick.

Ponder wasn't that bad? Wow, is that the best we can hope for? Not bad? Is that all we will ever be able to say about our Starting QBs? Kinda been that way for a long time now. The Years are starting to pile up. Let' see " Not bad, Bend but don't break defense, Dink and Dunk offense. Anybody see a wimpy trend here?

As soon as they kicked the FG to go up 6 I knew they lost. I said to my friend I watched the game with "We lose 31-30 now."
Unfortunately, I had the same reaction. I think we both may suffer from PTVD (Post-Traumatic Vikings Disorder).

I haven't seen or heard any of the post-game press comments beyond what's at the top of this thread but I have to believe Frazier regrets the decision to settle for a FG on that last drive. I understand why he would make that choice but sometimes I think coaches with a defensive background tend to place too much faith in their defenses.

It certainly surprised me! All I could think was "they must have set up some kind of lateral to Patterson" but no, Carlson was just being a lunkhead.

Yeah, look at that film, Mr. Ponder. You shouldn't have thrown it because you don't have the arm for that throw with that coverage and the DB was watching your eyes the whole time. Instead you should have turned your head and looked around. Someone was probably open on that play. Failing that, a pump fake may have made the DB bite and released the WR for a longer pass. Failing that, throw it out of bounds. Or take a sack. That's all.
