Re: QB
Give ponder one more half, then let Cassel shake off some rust for a game or two. Then see if MBT sinks or swims. If none of them work out, fire the QB coach because he is obviously incompetent. Jake Plummer has been keeping active, give him a call. Then light up the waiver wire.
Re: QB
I know it is super relevant, but my buddy and I were playing Madden 25 the other day as the Vikings and found we could only win by starting MBT and moving Patterson, Wright, and Webb to the top of the WR depth chart.
So obviously that's what the Vikings should do.

Re: QB
And this is it. A good team requires much more than just a QB....it's just that QB takes longer to develop. Ponder, win or lose, is getting his time learning the system and at very least could become backup to whoever comes next....assuming he can't turn it around.PacificNorseWest wrote:In order for me to think someone is the long-term answer, I have to have confidence in them from week-to-week. Since Ponder was drafted, I have never felt like that. However, I've never felt that something like this is as easy as digging through old scraps trying to dust it off and shine it to make it look like a shiny centerpiece, when in fact it's not. Sorry for the weird analogy, but I feel we'd be doing a lot of chasing. Decisions were made and you can't go changing so early in the year. Not at quarterback. You ride with your guy or someone on your roster. Honestly, we're just going to have to ride this one out no matter how bad it could potentially get and worry about getting a new guy in the offseason if that's what is going to happen.
In the meantime, building the team and it's chemistry goes on. The 10-6 season is a big challenge in the sense that it's occurance was in no way a signal that the team had been magically rebuilt in one season. They have lots of potential but lots of work yet to do.
Not panicking is the key....that's what most middling teams do, they panic and fire people or aquire poor fittng pieces.
This is Spielman's job and will continue to define his tenure here. Keep solidifying the teams core and be patient at the most important position. 2 cents
