Unfortunately these same things can be attributed to Cassel as much as Ponder.majorm wrote:We've seen the poor accuracy, poor decision making and awful pocket awareness before.

Though I don't know if it would've mattered too much Sunday. Mitchell only played 19 snaps. Vikings in nickel almost all game.Mothman wrote:Yeah, he's a depth/ST player not a starter. I suspect Bishop will be in there soon, hopefully next week.

It is easy and great QB play can make up for a lot of weaknesses but great QB play is also very hard to find so ignoring other weaknesses to focus on the QB position as a cure-all is a potentially fatal mistake for a team. The Vikings have problems that go beyond Ponder.majorm wrote:You can blame Frazier for this and that and look at the poor play of the defense and whatever else. The bottom line is this is a quarteback driven league and the Vikings don't have one.
It's easy to look at the top teams that you know will be the serious Super Bowl contenders and see where the biggest difference is between them and the Vikings. It's under center.

Those us of who have waited decades for a SB win and really want to see a SB win before we die, I'm sorry to say, but we might be waiting a while longer. This current team is nowhere close to a SB team. Not even close.
What's even more scary, is it might be a long time before they are ready for a SB run again. AP isn't getting any younger, so by time we figure out our QB situation and fill all of the other holes, AP will probably be irrelevant.
If I sound pessimistic, so be it. But I don't see a SB in our future for a long time. And it won't be with Ponder.

Which is why I think putting Bishop in wont make too much of a difference since only Greenway and Henderson come in at the Nickel. Unless Henderson gets swapped out with Bishop in Nickel packages. But what are the odds of that happening?80 PurplePride 84 wrote:Mitchell only played 19 snaps. They were in the Nickle most of the game.

Zero because this coaching staff is completely incompetent.JEC334 wrote: Which is why I think putting Bishop in wont make too much of a difference since only Greenway and Henderson come in at the Nickel. Re: Not Just Bad But Ugly
And im surprised no one brought up how poorly the blocking was sunday. I see the all the attention on is Ponder. Zach Line failed to finish blocks or create lanes for Peterson. Matt Kalil was missing blocks, getting got dropped back 36 times, allowed his QB to get killed even though the guy jumped offside. This was probably the worst game Kalil has had in his career as a Vikings. Im not making any excuses for Ponder but the O-Line did not make things any better.
