Haha, careful, just might be the case this year.

LOL! If it goes that way, it will give the Vikes their choice of new QBs. :)

A large step backwards against the Lions. It's not looking promising for this guy.

Jerome Simpsons caught a monster catch to pad the stats and bailed him out all game.

This team added Jennings, Patterson and had a 100 percent Simpson and took a step backwards passing wise.

Defense on the field 38 minutes today!

Ponder sucks ..

weak arm...

cannot throw and accurate ball even in a short pass ..

throws behinds players on routes constantly..

if the Vikings don't do something about this in the off season I am done as a Vikings
fan ..

The next step for Ponder is to go home and leave the team if he doesn't get his act together.

"Ponder can't throw deep."
He can? Come on. Rainbow overthrows. One of, if not THE worse stats over 20 yards in the entire league last year. No 20+ yard passing TD all season. Go back to 1991 to match that kind of incompetence. Lowest difference between teammates QB/HB ever. 31st ranked yards per attempt. And those are just the stats that were recently shown...

Go find your one Jarius Wright highlight and cling to it though...
If Ponder was half as incompetent as some of his detractors claim he is the Vikings wouldn't have won a game last year.
And if he was half as competent as his apologists claim we'd have won 14 games, the division, and Ponder would have ended up better than a bottom five player at his position...

or not, it was everyone elses fault.

I agree with Ponder's poor play today, and I have generally been skeptical about him, but I don't really have any faith in Cassel after watching him this preseason, so Ponder should get this full season to show and prove.

But I agree that we are going to have to draft a new QB next year, unless he really changes. He continues to have poor accuracy, no long ball (saved with a great catch by Simpson), and his pocket presence although improved, still isn't up to par.
The difference between men is not lack of strength, not lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

I emailed this to the team today
First of I have been a loyal vikings Fan for 20 plus years. I fly in from California
for games as much I possibly can. I am very upset by the complete lack of the
Vikings coaches; to not make Ponder compete for a starting job. I don't think he has
improved at all as a player. Ponder has a weak arm. Ponder throws behind the receivers
,or too high; which risks their injury. We have the best running back in the league; and he
can't complete enough passes; to force defenses to not load the box. If Ponder is not forced
to compete for his starting job; I will not be a vikings fan much longer.

Tough words, my friend. Tough words.

I'm sticking with them through thick and then. But if you read the thread that I started, I agree that this year's team may well prove to be unwatchable. And thanks to Tevo, a 3 hour game can be breezed through quite quickly so that even a "loyal fan" can do other things with one's time than waste an entire afternoon on garbage football.

I was thinking the same thing. This guy is a total joke. I've been a fan since the '70s and I'll give them 1 more year....but if Ponder is starting for the Vikings next year, I'm done.

I was one of the "negative" people that thought we should of already been actively looking for a replacement at QB, but the Viking staff along with some fans on here seemed to be happy to give Ponder another season to torture us.

I really think he won't last much longer, playing like he did today. I think the Wilfs will demand excellence and QB play contributing to losses like today will not be tolerated for the whole season.

Hopefully, after today, the next step for even the biggest fan/coach on the Vikings staff, is working out a way to get anything for him. We should be able to get a 5th right? He is more of a liability to us now. Time for Spielman to suck down his pride and admit the mistake of wasting a 12th overall pick on the bum. Cut ties with him, let Cassel take over ( he isn't worse then Ponder, even Ponder good plays were a better play by the WR then a throw. Why waste the year on a this scrub again?

I'll be a Vikings fan until the day they die, no matter who is behind center. I can't imagine cheering for another team under any circumstances.
