Come on, Demi, we all know that the players around a quarterback don't have an impact on his stats and performance. No excuses! ;)

That would be a breath of fresh air. It would leave the forum a little bare, though, wouldn't it?

Yes they do, which is why it's so amazing even a guy like Ponder who isn't that good can't even accomplish more with the talent they've had on this offense...imagine an above average quarterback like Rivers! :smilevike:

Well, he's definitely a talented player. If he could keep the INTs down and keep a cool head, he'd be an upgrade over what Ponder has done so far. I don't know if he can do that anymore though...

First game of 2013 he has as many TDs as Ponder has had in a game...in the first half.

Not like Chargers will let him walk anyway, but boy you win games by scoring points, not "not turning the ball over". :wallbang:

... and yet you're focused on the QB of a team that finished behind the Vikes in scoring last season and lost their first game of this season. Rivers has thrown 35 INTs over the last two years and the Chargers have a record of 15-17 over that span.

AND he's resurrecting a thread that is weeks old for no other reason than to pile on to the Vikings QB situation.
The Devil whispered in the Viking's ear, "There's a storm coming." The Viking replied, "I am the storm." ‪#‎SKOL2018

For some, ripping Ponder is like constantly hitting that checkdown receiver.

I hereby dub it 'noodle-posting'

Hell Tebow could do as well as Ponder.
At least Tebow is a winner and he can throw 5-10 yard passes like Ponder

New Genius idea!

Hire Urban Meyer as OC next season
Sign Tebow
Win games!

Read Option with best HB in history of the game and best read option QB in history of college athletics? Look at what the Eagles did with a college offense. Other division teams can't replicate or practice against that. Let's stir it up here. Forget this west coast crap! Someone get Spielman or Zygi on the line!

The heck with Tebo. If you're gonna do something like that, and it would be fun to watch, draft MariOOOta.

6'5" 4.5 40 and has an accurate big time arm.

Mariota, Manziel...Tebow would sign for minimum if you gave him some starts. Find a guy with some creativity that will make use of them. McCoy was a beast given those reads and lanes, imagine Adrian. Why can't we do something like this. Our offense has been terrible outside of Favre and the running game for the last decade. Quit hiring never been west coast guys and get someone who will adjust more and, oh, maybe when Joe Webb has to play in the playoffs....make use of his athleticism? Maybe a few more option plays. Bend but don't break and game managing isn't going to win super bowls. This defense has held it's own now and then even with some pretty questionable personnel. This offense needs to be overhauled, especially the OC, come on now Spielman!

I, for one would, welcome a change like that on offense. I think the offense we run can work, but it relies heavily on a cool calm QB and a sturdy athletic group on the o-line....as well as a bit more diversity in the production at RB.

I don't want to root against or speculate about Fraizer's future, but it is interesting that he wasn't extended this offseason.

How this season pays out vs who declares for the draft will be very interesting. I wouldn't put it past Spielman to pull the rug out if the team struggles to improve this season.

It's fun to think about...but it's a long way to that end presently.

I like what SF has done by running a system that can do either thing. That's why I'm pushing for Mariota regardless of where we finish this season. He is very similar to Kaepernick skillset-wise.....but it's a complete unknown if he will declare.

Manziel.....I don't know about that guy. He's good, that's for sure. Have to wait and see how he holds up this season.
