Re: The positives
What exactly is "tricky" about naming a thread "The positives" and then expecting posters to discuss positive aspects of the game? Self control is tricky, perhaps?Reignman wrote:Oh I see, it was a little science experiment all along. We'll cleverly call it "The positives" thread then see how long it takes before the crowd makes it negative while we quietly giggle over in the corner. Oh you positive Pammy's are a tricky bunch xD.
Here, I'll show you how it works. Some positive takeaways form the Bill's game:
1. The Bills had tons of penalties; they looked undisciplined for all of their raw energy. Through two quarters we had 0 penalties.
2. Ponder kept poised even w/ consistent pressure. Had some nice throws to Rudy.
3. Our first line D allowed 0 points. (until the final FG... I'm watching NFL network replay... just saw the Bills' last drive)
4. Two question marks on D looked good: LB (Greenway especially) and secondary (created a turnover and held Buffalo to few yards). Rhodes looked good.
5. Apart from Jarius, no injuries. Very important.
Now, lest you think I only see the positives, I've already posted in Demi's "The Negatives" thread. I won't pout and call him "tricky" for naming a thread and expecting dialogue along the lines of what he was seeking.
Re: The positives
I think those are both big positives, as is the first line defense allowing no points (they already had a number of backups playing when the FG you mentioned was scored).Texas Vike wrote:Here, I'll show you how it works. Some positive takeaways form the Bill's game:

Re: The positives
Addendum:
1. Banyard showed some pizzazz on a couple of 4th quarter carries. I like our options behind Toby and I hope we can keep one of them around so that when Toby walks next year whoever it is can step in.
2. If McKenzie hadn't held (unnecessarily) Burton might have had a 102 yard KO return TD. Burton looks ready to make the squad.
3. (edited to add) MBT played great ball! He looked surprisingly poised making all kinds of throws.

Re: The positives
Yes! That was a very pretty play--just until it was called back. Either way, Burton is one guy I've been very impressed with so far. Definitely a bright spot!Texas Vike wrote: If McKenzie hadn't held (unnecessarily) Burton might have had a 102 yard KO return TD. Burton looks ready to make the squad.

Agreed! I think a lot of people were ready to bail on Burton but he's really turned it on this preseason in a good way!MelanieMFunk wrote: Yes! That was a very pretty play--just until it was called back. Either way, Burton is one guy I've been very impressed with so far. Definitely a bright spot!

Re: The positives
Well, quit dooming yourself with the Vikings AND the Cubs. That would be a good start.Purple Jesus wrote: How can you be such a positive person? You've been a Vikes fan long enough... Haha maybe it's just because you're female. They are positive by nature.
But my being a Vikes AND Cubs fan doesn't help that I am just a pessimist all round in general anyway..
I always hope for the best and expect the worst. I have no faith ha Murphy's Law!

As far as being positive, that's just me in general. That, and I have a lot of faith and love for the Vikings. I suppose, oftentimes, I make excuses for them and convince myself it's all going to be okay. lol.
With that said, don't even TALK to me when things aren't going my way concerning the Vikings (especially against my most-hated teams). Don't call me, don't text me, heck...don't even LOOK at me. lol.

I'm very, VERY passionate during the game (start to lose my voice mid-first quarter at games

Re: The positives
Believe it or not, it's entirely possible to discuss both sides of negative and positive without all the sacrcasm and taunting tones that some guys can't seem to control. It's eerily similar to the the way Ponder leaves the Pocket early....just a complete lack of control when he sees something he doesn't like.
Maybe that's why he drives certain people crazy...they see themselves in him.

Re: The positives
The passion makes it all worth it. Sure, the bad times suck...but the passion makes the good times that much better.Purple Jesus wrote: Hahaha Love it! I know how it goes. A Viking loss on Sundays pretty much ruins the week until the next game. I want to break stuff when my teams lose and I might even bang on things and break them when they score touchdowns. It goes both ways. Oh, the passion!

Re: The positives
Sorry so late. Us West Coast guys have to wait for the reply. Anyway...
-Ponder's pocket movement
-Ponder's accuracy (even on passes that went down as incomplete)
-Defense flying to the ball
I'm only 1 quarter in and this is what stands out so far.

Re: The positives
Positives from preseason vs 49ers:
First string defense had some real nice series. Holding the 49ers to 3 points after the fumble was great
Robison looks to be playing really well so far. He started fast last year, looking to be again this year.

Lets try to respect the spirit of the thread and keep things positive. There is also a negative thread and numerous others you can post in if you have nothing good to say. Multiple posts were removed.

Thank you for doing that for some of our sanity sake.S197 wrote:Lets try to respect the spirit of the thread and keep things positive. There is also a negative thread and numerous others you can post in if you have nothing good to say. Multiple posts were removed.

Look, no one that I know is picking the Vikes to go to the Super Bowl nor is anyone saying that Ponder will be a great QB and some day be in the Pro Bowl. What a few of us positive people are saying is that we enjoy the team and the progress that they have made in the last year (increasing their win total by 7 games). I really liked the draft and the fact that the team got Jennings. So to me, I see the team headed in a positive direction.
This team is a long ways away from the Super Bowl but I enjoy watching AD play along with JA, Rudolph, Kalil, Walsh, Smith, C Patterson, Sullivan, Felton, Greenway, Robison, Griffith, and several other of the team members.
I would list getting a new stadium as a definate positive and not to watch the Vikes pack their bags and leave town.
Anyway I will keep being positive and enjoy watching the team hopefull that they take another step up this season
