I was reading a quote from mothman from the titans game, it went along the lines " I didn't think Harvin had any business running that run down at the goal, he blows one guy up and makes it in, I don't mind eating my word if he keeps doing that" I feel the exact same way about ponder if that helps? also I am a numbers guy I go on %, and its against the odds that someone falls under that category and still wins a superbowl cause only 2 out of 7 have done it.The Breeze wrote: other than the fact that you were completely wrong in your original statement, what should I take from your above comment?
Would you rather be full of crap or have Ponder fail? Cause that appears to be the way you are framing it. I'm leaving my options open. I've got no problem with negativity....it's sweeping generalizations that I tend to ignore.

Yes, and I'd even argue that the GB loss was winnable going into the 4th quarter, despite the performance of Ponder and the passing game up to that point, but the defense collapsed in a different sense. They allowed GB to use the majority of the quarter (11 minutes) on one long drive that extended their lead by 3 points. By the time Ponder and the offense saw the field again, they were facing a two score deficit and Ponder had very little time to try to redeem his performance. Nevertheless, he directed a drive that put the Vikes in range for a 42 yard FG with 2 minutes left. The attempt failed, making the chance for a miraculous comeback almost impossible. I'm not suggesting they would have pulled it off but I do see that game as an interesting part of the whole Ponder argument. It was one of his worst performances and it's often said that he singlehandedly lost the game but despite all of that, he actually drove them in position to cut the lead to 6 at the 2 minute warning. IF Walsh hits that field goal and the Vikes attempt an onside kick or force a three and out, Ponder might have had a chance to perform some late game heroics. The Breeze wrote: They also lost a winnable game in week 2 after a late scoring drive....but the defense collapsed.
I'll stop there because I can already imagine the ways in which this post will be misconstrued.

I don't know... when you consider the percentage of QBs that have won Super Bowls since the NFL started playing them in the 1960s, 2 out of 7 actually sounds encouraging! Most QBs don't win the Super Bowl at all. If two of those who have lost games in which their team has had a 200+ yard rusher have actually won a Super Bowl, maybe that's a good sign.allday1991 wrote:I was reading a quote from mothman from the titans game, it went along the lines " I didn't think Harvin had any business running that run down at the goal, he blows one guy up and makes it in, I don't mind eating my word if he keeps doing that" I feel the exact same way about ponder if that helps? also I am a numbers guy I go on %, and its against the odds that someone falls under that category and still wins a superbowl cause only 2 out of 7 have done it.

I believe the total # was 5 superbowls between the two guys on the list....and if memory serves me Ferguson was no slouch, just getting toward the end of a career. But to be fair the criteria wasn't superbowl winners it was just bad QBs. I'm not sure Hebert or Fielder fits that category either. It could be debated.Mothman wrote: I don't know... when you consider the percentage of QBs that have won Super Bowls since the NFL started playing them in the 1960s, 2 out of 7 actually sounds encouraging!
