Political posturing or not, I'm worried.

Could it mean a holdup of demolition of the Metrodome? Or, if the demo goes as scheduled and construction is delayed, could it mean additional time playing at TCF?

Someone will have to decide whether or not to go ahead with razing the dome in January if this is all still unsettled. If it's not settled by then, tearing it down is going to be a big gamble.

I hope you're right. This needs to get squashed fast, don't need it hanging over the team during the season. I have a feeling it's going to turn into a big stink though...I've heard/read in several places that the money raised from electronic pulltubs has been nowhere near the projected amount so obviously some people are butthurt over that one. Hopefully a lot of this stuff is past the point of no-return and can't be reversed.

One of the south Minneapolis neighborhood newspapers had an article about some perennial far left wing mayoral candidate was going to push for a vote, citing some kind of arcane legal doctrine. Obviously, there are going to be those who will try to use this to their advantage to make a name for themselves.

CNN/SI posted this article
Now, the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority has retained the services of Peter Carter of the Dorsey & Whitney law firm in a mission to do “due diligence” on this matter, and that process may delay the stadium.

Posturing by whom? The state? Dayton? That just doesn't make sense ... but I don't live in Minny so maybe there is some things I'm not privy to. But, they had a deal done. Are you saying they then wanted to back out of the deal? What do they gain by that?

The judge in New Jersey really slammed the Wilfs in this case -- which is been in the courts for decades.

I think he means the posturing is on Dayton's part and it is only enough so that he (the Gov) can claim he did his "due diligence" if this all would turn sour at a later date. I don't think anyone wants the stadium to "not go through" at this late stage of the game. I don't live in MN either, but politics is pretty much the same no matter where you live....

I still have a hard time with anyone using the term "due diligence" at this stage of the game. How can it possibly be that the governor, legislators, etc. did not know that this case was in the works? These kinds of things should have been investigated and discussed prior to the vote. Bringing it up now makes the whole state government look stupid. But what am I saying: government of all stripes seems to be stupider and stupider all the time.

Maybe they knew, (if not it's been 20+ years so what the hey!), and didn't think it was a big deal.
But when "Wilf's screw investor (or whatever)" is in the news. It becomes a story. They are just seeing what they can do.

Everything will be as it was. Just a politician doing what he can to cover all his bases.

Non story in the end.

Judge won’t unseal documents until Wilfs have a chance to appeal

Wilfs argue against release of financial data
Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf, in a signed court document released Tuesday, said that making his net worth public “will pose a serious threat to me and my family” and that “malicious individuals” could target them for physical attack and extortion.
