Re: The Greg Jennings thread
Looking forward to seeing him tonight, this is the time to get that first team rolling. I expect Ponder to lean on him tonight, win or lose who cares.

Re: The Greg Jennings thread
Not that it matters, but it seems as though Donald Driver echoes Jennings' sentiments.
Seems like the gripe with Rodgers' leadership is that he is reluctant to accept blame. Not sure how I feel about that. If a receiver runs an option route, both the receiver and the quarterback have to read the same thing. Who's fault is it if they don't? Most quarterbacks jump on the grenade with the media, but Driver is right ... you don't hear Rodgers doing that. What happens on the sidelines is their business. What happens in the media is something else.
It does seem to confirm, at least to a point, Jennings' comments. Driver isn't with another team, especially a rival.
In fairness, Driver does go on to say he thinks Rodgers is a great guy, and remains friends with him. In return fairness, Jennings basically said the same thing.
Link.Mike and Mike of ESPN Radio wrote:"We've always said that the quarterback is the one that needs to take the pressure off everyone else," Driver said, via ESPN.com. "If a guy runs the wrong route, it's easy for the quarterback to say, 'Hey, I told him to run that route' than for the guy to be like, 'Well, I ran the wrong route.'
"Sometimes you ask Aaron to take the pressure off the guys so we won't look bad, but he didn't want to do that. He felt like if you did something bad, you do it. But I think that's the difference. You want that leadership, and I think sometimes you may not feel like you got it. You have to earn that respect at the end of the day, and I think that's what Greg was probably referring to."

Go ahead. I dare you.
Underestimate this man.

For Vikings' Ponder and Jennings, it's sync or sink
Christian Ponder and Greg Jennings are still at the getting-acquainted stage in the Vikings’ passing game.

Full post: http://www.startribune.com/sports/vikin ... 68731.htmlIt might only be preseason, but Ponder certainly soon needs to provide evidence he is making strides with his accuracy and decision-making. He must also find a rhythm with a receiving corps that’s mostly new to him.
Jennings was a Packer last year. Rookie Cordarrelle Patterson was at the University of Tennessee. And Simpson and Jarius Wright combined to play 19 games with 48 catches for 584 yards and two touchdowns.
So yeah, the Vikings need to establish timing within their passing attack before the Sept. 8 season opener at Detroit. And they’ll have Friday’s game in Buffalo and an Aug. 25 game at San Francisco to push things along.
“We want to jell,” offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave said. “We want to get a rapport with one another, with our comfort level, our rhythm. And we are doing that at practice, but it is different in the game. We will keep working in that direction so we can be really good by Detroit. That’s the whole game — get to Detroit healthy and in rhythm.”
“Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.” --- Bill Shankly

I agree. It seems both Jennings and Drive like Rodgers and their comments regarding Rodgers' leadership are just two WRs talking shop. It's not like either guy claims Aaron Rodgers is a lousy QB or something.J. Kapp 11 wrote:Not that it matters, but it seems as though Donald Driver echoes Jennings' sentiments.

Regarding Jennings, I don't care what he thinks or says about Rodgers. I just care about him staying healthy and performing well for the Vikings.

Over/Under? Greg Jennings stay in Minnesota: 4 years
Under.
I'm wondering whether or not Jennings is starting to feel that he made a colossal career mistake. Because he's about to become invisible in Minnesota. When he leaves the Vikings he'll be lucky to get a contract at the league minimum.

Doom! DOOOOM!
That's a bit premature and melodramatic after 3 preseason games and less than a full game of playing time. Let's see what the picture looks like after 16 regular season games instead of less than a handful of meaningless preseason games.

Sometimes the writing is on the wall, even if you turn your back to it.

Very profound...Eli wrote:Sometimes the writing is on the wall, even if you turn your back to it.
I won't be surprised if he's in Minnesota less than 4 years but I see no firm basis from which to conclude he's made "a colossal career mistake" and is "about to become invisible in Minnesota". He was targeted at least 4 or 5 times last night in limited action and I think it's reasonable to assume he'll be targeted often during the regular season.
