Just For Fun: NFL Predictions!

Post by Funkytown »

Just For Fun!

So, we talk a lot about the Vikings expectations as far as individual players and the team overall, but what about the rest of the NFL?

Super Bowl Predictions

Just because I never count the Vikings out: Broncos and Vikings

No further explanation needed. :)

Most-Improved Team

Kansas City Chiefs

Poor Chiefs fans. I think with their new coach and QB combo, they’ll see much-needed improvement. As we witnessed a couple years ago, they have talent. I just think with the new additions this offseason (coach, free agency, and draft) they’ll finally be able to make something happen. Aside from the Broncos, their division is iffy. I think they’ll move up to second—or at least I hope they do.

Biggest Disappointment

Baltimore Ravens

I just feel like these guys lost too many of their key guys to repeat their success, quite possibly not even making the playoffs. I think they lost too much of that passion and fire that made them so good. Sure, they’ve been good for many years—and still have enough talent to win games--but I just think this year is going to be a disappointing year for their fans. Besides, anything less than a repeat is disappointing--even as unrealistic as that is. I hope it’s not as bad as I'm predicting--I hope they at least make the playoffs even though I seriously doubt it--because I like the Ravens; I just see some issues there, especially with the consistently tough Steelers and the up-and-coming (in comparison to the usual top dogs) Bengals in their division. Just seems like a tough hill to climb. They play our division too, which is no cakewalk. Pats, Texans, and Broncos won't be fun either.

Most-Improved Player

Christian Ponder

Only slightly joking, but I think he goes from “garbage QB” to above average. I don’t see many others going from “garbage” to anything near average or above average during this season. I think Ponder has a huge opportunity in front of him to make a huge leap towards success! :D

Another guy is:

Ryan Tannehill

They’ve done a lot down there in Miami. I think he steps up and makes it all count.

Biggest Disappointment/Drop Off From Last Season(player)

Colin Kaepernick

Don’t know. I just have this feeling. Or maybe that feeling is just hope. :)

I pulled a lot of this out of my butt, but like I said…it’s just for fun!

Please share your opinions!

***Bonus Question***

How many coaches get fired after this season? Any guesses for which ones?

I'll play:

Superbowl.....Broncos and Niners. Pats will be tough though, as LaGarret Blount will be huge for them.

Most improved team.........The Rams. They had the best record in their division last season an I think they will make some noise. Cardinals will shine too, Cause Palmer has a lot left.

Disappointing team.......I would say Ravens, but I think the bar is low for them with what they've lost. I'm gong to say Seahawks...just cause the bar for them is so high.

Improved player.......Mike Vick. justa hunch. Watch Blount in NE too.

Disappointing player.....Rothlisburger nuther hunch.

Coaches on their way out........Detroit, Dallas, Jets

Extra bonus prediction......I will crush the competition in this season's Pick 4~

Thanks for playing. I don't think you needed to quote my whole post, though. lol. You were the only one to respond so far. ;)

Also, the Ravens looked good tonight. I know it's only preseason, but their D looked pretty awesome. Hopefully I'm wrong about the Ravens and the Packers will suck instead.

The Browns looked good, too. And here I thought they'd be our "easy W" for the year. Nope. It's going to be the Lions! ;)

I only have a phone to post from so I quoted your post to be able to scroll back up and see your categories. I can only have 1 window open at a time. And it's why there are often typos in my posts.

I'm sure you'll get a few more responses over the weekend.

Baltimore has a great system in place on defense. I don't expect them to win their division....but you never know how the ball will bounce in the NFL. I think the Browns will be much improved but I'm not sold on their QB yet.

I actually think there is a good chance the Packers will stumble.....but I don't want to predict it and create some kind of reverse jinx.

It will be fun to see how the predictions pan out~

Ah. I hear ya about replying on your phone. Not the easiest task in the world. :) Doing it right now!

Not sure how many people will reply to this. I've noticed general NFL talk isn't extremely popular. I'm confused by that. I get the love for the Vikings--and talking about Vikings football--but there are 31 other teams to talk about and this section gets only 10% of the attention? The heck? Only Vikings fans around here, huh? I wanna talk football dang it! ;) Maybe people don't feel knowledgeable enough about other teams. :)

I watched the coverage of the games tonight and the Browns might surprise people if they stay healthy. They looked good and were taking some shots. Cameron (their beastly TE) played awesome tonight. From what I gathered, Weeden has had one of the best preseasons so far, too. Time will tell, but I think they're still a few years away from making serious noise in that tough AFC North division.

Okay I'll play.......

Super Bowl: This is sorta blind this early in preseason, But I will say Seahawks vs Ravens, don't be shocked if the Ravens don't fall completely off the table. Bengals win the AFC North, Ravens go further.

Most improved team: Rams, they already have a solid defense and a great coach, now it's time for the offense to take that step.

Biggest dissapointment: Patriots, not a special defense and it showed some serious cracks last year, Brady has to carry this offense again, I see a fall here.

Most improved player: Sam Bradford, make or break time for him.

Biggest dropoff: RG3, 2 surgeries under his belt now, he won't be a total flop, but see Cam Newton year 2.

Coaches getting the axe: Rex Ryan, Gary Kubiak, Mike Smith

I was actually thinking about RG3 as far as biggest drop-off player. I can see it happening. He seems a little stubborn with his injuries and whatnot. He'll learn quickly enough that he needs to protect himself or his time in this league will be short-lived.

As far as the Rams being the most-improved team, are you guys talking playoffs then? Didn't they win 7 games or something last year? Even improving by a couple games would probably get them there. Interesting! Their division is too tough, especially if the Cards are a lot better, too! I'm just not seeing it!

Superbowl Saints vs Patriots
Saints win .. The NFC west is going to wear itself out this year..

Most Improved Team :

Chiefs weak division other than Denver ..

Biggest Disappointment

RG 3 and the skins .. The team seems ready for a
set back to me

MVP

Peterson: NO QB to take yards from him
no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

My barometer for improvement as a team doesn't necessarily mean playoffs. Because there are other factors there, but the Rams could scare some teams and make noise, and I don't see the Cards that improved, still have a horrid O line, and Palmer throws 4th quarter INTs like crazy, it's his MO.

*raises hand* one for the hasn't had time to really look at the rest of the teams this year *sheepish grin*

Seahawks win the superbowl. Even with Harvin out for 3/4 of the season and 2 playoff games.

For grins and giggles, my thoughts on the NFC North listing: GB, MN, CHI, DET

Drop off player: I hope it's Vick. I can't stand him. His kind of character gives a bad name to pro sports (I love pitbulls, they're fantastic dogs!)

Disappointing team: Dallas. I think Romo is on his way out.

Coaches fired? Don't know who, but my guess is 6, and if it's not at least Dallas and Washington, I'll be surprised.

I don't want the Saints or Patriots to win anything or go to the bowl..

The Saints have a great offense and got the Coach back they didn't lose a ton of games
last year and most of the losses were close. Their defense should be better with the new
DC from Dallas.

The Patriots have little or no work in their division. Dolphins just lost Keller for the year.
The only team I see beating the Patriots in the Playoffs are the Ravens, maybe Bengals.
Denver will make it and lose.

The NIners, Rams, Cardinals, and Sea chickens will all beat on each other.

I don't think we will make it to playoffs, wild card at best.

Green Bay can't run the ball very well or stop other teams

NFC East is not dominate

Not sold on the falcons winning it all
no one expects the Spanish Inquisition!

I honestly think the Pack learn to run the ball with Lacy. Unfortunately. Hopefully their D still sucks. :)

And, I actually do believe in the Falcons. I'd say the Falcons, 'Hawks, and of course the Niners are at the top of our conference as of now. Question marks beyond those teams. We'll see how the season goes, but hopefully Ponder turns into something special and I can put us on top. :) I jokingly (well, somewhat) said we'd go to the Super Bowl, but realistically I don't think we are quite there yet. But, if we get our passing game figured out (and manage to stay healthy) and there are some key injuries around the league...we might just have a chance! ;)

I think Dallas could actually be pretty damn good this year, provided they get a consistant running game. They have a good QB don't care what anyone says, and Dez is a bad mofo at WR.
